My daughter started out her freshman year an arts school called spcpa 2 years ago. Her nor i liked it one bit. the academics were horrible and the teachers did not do there job well at all. they paid more attention to the arts aspects then the educational parts of this school which i really disliked. Anyway, i had her finish out the year. So, her sophomore year she and i decided CHS was the best choice. She loves it, as i do too:) It is her second year going to this school and she has gotten better grades then ever. There or so many reasons why i love this school and i definately recommend it!

We moved here from South Dakota, hoping in part to move into a district with even more offerings for our children. We have not found this to be true at Centennial. Failed bond issues, weak leadership, and a school board that turns away donations means that our children have lost many opportunities.

So much has been cut from the academics that I fear for the future of the school. The only thing that hasn't been touch is athletics!

My wife and I moved to this district specifically for the education programs in place. Lino Lakes itself is a wonderful city (consistently rated as such) and the schools are a large part of this. So far from our experiences the teachers are all very caring and seem to take an interest in each students goals and abilities.

To respond to the student who gave Centennial a one-star rating: Centennial is what you make it. You can choose to isolate yourself and not take advantage of the opportunities given to you or you can get involved and have an amazing four years. Cliques are a part of high school but engaging in illegal behavior is NOT a pressure of all of them. Again, it is what you make it. There are hundreds of positive students with high morals that never drink or smoke nor feel the pressure from others. It's unfortunate you transferred before giving the school a chance. I will never regret going to Centennial because the teachers and students there helped me become a mature and responsible person.

My son graduated in 2009, through AP & CIS classes he earned 18 college credits, got a 30 on the ACT and a full scholarship to college. My daughter, a junior, just got a 32 on the ACT. Centennial offers rigorous courses, quality teaching and many extra-cirricular activities, including a winning Robotics team. My two daughters there now have many friends and love their school.

I hated centennial schools because they hired inexperienced teachers who only cared about getting payed. I felt the teachers did not like to teach and they just wanted to make it through the day to go do other things. The students also are very stuck up and not very including. They think you have to drink or smoke to be cool and fit in, that is what most kids do. This is the reason I transferred schools because Centennial has a terrible learning environment and does not push students to reach their full potential.

I am a recent graduate of Centennial, and can say that much of who I am today can be accredited to my four years there. There is an extremely strong sense of community, enormous amounts of school spirit, and well-regarded athletics and arts activities. Most staff share a genuine concern for the students, building relationships that last much longer than their years in the school.

I was a graduate at Centennial High School. Its a lot of freedom at Centennial. Being one of the competting schools in the Northwest Suburban Confrence, kids can get into any sports or extracurricular activities. When my mom put me in a Minneapolis school, i felt very unsafe with just 3000 kids, but until we moved to Anoka County My mom felt confident in putting me in a school like Centennial where its 2100 kids, and alot of classes and college refrences. My junior and senior years at Centennial, the PSEO (post seconadry education opportunities landed me at Alexandria Tech College in Law Enforcement. Thanks to Centennial I am well educated and I serve as a EMT First Responder in the city of Minneapolis. - Dallas Barnes Class of 2004
