We live in the Waconia school district, which is a fine district. However, not ever school meets the needs of every child. If you are contemplating your option, as a parent for school choice, take a look at this school. I have yet to see a school that has accountability for each student making at least one year's academic growth. MCA's don't measure growth. My child could not attend school and still be proficient on the MCA...that doesn't measure anything. No Child Left Behind is truly leaving kids behind.

I have had a student at Cologne Academy for the past couple years and could not be happier with her education. The school is well led by teachers and administrators. I always feel welcome in the school as a partner in my child's education. The only thing I am not happy about is that there is no pre-school, so my youngest has to wait another year before starting at Cologne Academy!

Be an informed consumer and attend a technology meeting; all schools, including CA needs a plan and a budget to support this area. This is a constantly changing world and the board recognizes the continual need of the information highway coming into the hands of children. Research supports the use of intervention to support struggling learners. While many schools use the wait to fail method CA invests heavily in appropriate intervention. Parents have an obligation to be at the forefront of their child's education. Check out CA's website! Be an informed consumer. Tour the school. Reach out to a board member. The good news is that there is choice in public school offerings. There are many great districts and, as a parent, finding the right school for your students is a parental right- your right to choose. Part 3of3 Matt Lein Cologne Academy School Board

Cologne Academy is a wonderful school! They do very well working with children at all levels. I have a couple children who are excelling in reading and math and they have placed them in a high math and reading group to keep them challenged. My friend's child is struggling and they placed him in a lower group as it is crucial that in reading and especially math you learn the basics before you move on. We were in a different school district before moving here. Cologne Academy is definitely a superior school! I did quite a bit of research on the curriculum before we enrolled and it is excellent. It is like a private education without the huge yearly tuition!!

Cologne Academy is a small, growing school with a focus on individual students learning needs. Teachers and administrators are open to input and work diligently to ensure the needs of all students are met. The Core Knowledge curriculum is top notch and is designed such that students will not experience gaps as frequently happens in other schools. Significant, impactful ways exist for parents to be involved in the school - not just in fundraising but in a huge variety of ways. The opportunity is there for the taking!

My daughter has attended Cologne Academy since the school opened. She is now in 2nd grade. She is learning so much and the teachers and other staff are exceptional. We live one block from an elementary school but I send my daughter to Cologne Academy. That is how much I believe in the school and what they're doing. I wish Cologne Academy had been around when my 16 yr old was in elementary school. She would have benefitted so much.

My child has been going to the Cologne Academy since Kindergarden and now my child is in 2nd grade. I have loved it from day one and can't wait to enroll my other 2 when they are of school age. I am proud to tell others where my child goes to school. The school has excellent teachers and paras. The staff makes you feel comfortable when you walk in the doors. The staff encourage children all day. My child has had 3 great successful years and I hope that my child has many more. The one down fall to the school is that it is only kindergarden thru 8th grade. They do such a excellent and outstanding job I just wish my child could graduate from the Cologne Academy and not some other school that isn't up to the Cologne Academy's standards. I am still wishing that they will go to 12th.
