I concur with both of these reviews. They do have a poorly trained special education department and the bullying is a huge problem that doesn't seem to every be addressed. My son, who has Aspergers, was slammed against the locker bay when he got mad for being teased and bullied. This teacher is still employed. They may be a good school for the high ranking student but for the average or those who may struggle with a subject may not get the attention they need.

Delano has a very high rated school district, and all in all, the schools are excellent. The new superintendent is mediocre however, and the middle school principal is absolutely awful. The teachers are fairly good and we've had a good experience with them being responsive to issues or problems.

Delano Middle School has an excellent academic program, however their special education department is extremely poor. They do not seem to have the ability to communicate with these students or to control them. Their reporting to parents is almost non existant. They also do not have any control over their students verbal bullying and name calling. They profess to be pro-active in this area but their results are in the area of D- or worse. In order to protect our child from this constant bullying we decided to pull him out of school and home school him. Other parents in this school district had the same problem and either sent their children to another school or home schooled them.
