Excellent school. The community and school board reinvest in to the schools. Teachers are very involved and available. The support for students with an IEP is amazing. So many opportunities in programs outside of the classroom. Very competitive environment. Would not recommend moving here from out of state with children older then 8. Very closed off community. People have lived here for centuries with their childhood friends and family living next door. All three of my children have had a difficult time.

This is an amazing school. The teachers are hard-working, enthusiastic, and personable! The superintendent and school board seem future-oriented and up on technology. The only weird thing is that they don't seem interested in changing the school district boundaries to include more kids from the city of Edina, even though this would result in more money for Edina schools. I've heard that they're caught between doing what's best for Edina schools versus doing what will keep the other school districts and the Minnesota Department of Education people happy, & they're choosing the other school districts & the Dept. of Education. Other than that though, the district seems to be going in the right direction.

I think Edina has the best schools and people, this isnt because i am a Edina kid its because i know Edina kids and how there just like everyone else in the world and everywhere even if they might have a little more money then others that doesnt mean were diffrent. Were all the same, whether some people have more money then others or not. So i think that all Edina schools are great.

Edina High School offers many AP courses and excels in academics and sports. We are named state champions for Hockey, Track, Tennis, Comp Cheer, and many other sports. The school contains a variety of different cliques. Theater kids, Athletic kids, AP kids, etc... We do not like to be defined snobby or rich. In fact not everyone who attends is filthy rich. Many highschoolers that attend can be judgmental, not good for new kids. Also upperclassmen take advantage of seniority. Edina kids are prone to party alot. Other than the downs, there are many ups to attending EHS.

Edina offers myriad chances for students to excel, and it's teachers are top notch. Besides the many opportunities for academic achievement, Edina boasts top class athletics as well. The administration promotes pride as individuals and a school.

Having graduated from EHS last year, I can say with great confidence that I am fully prepared to meet the rigors of college with intelligence and great enthusiasm. The plethora of AP classes offered was a complete joy, and largely unmatched. Teachers are matched with their students' skill sets with unusual efficiency.

As a student attending Edina High School, I feel completely safe to say Edina is the best public school in the state. With numerous top 100 rankings from Newsweek Magazine, state championship titles and other extra curricular activities, Edina is a very well rounded school. I can not say enough good things about Edina and would recommend this high school to anyone.

While there is a seemingly diverse population of students at this school, I have found that a majority of the students are highly judgemental. Most students at this school act the same, think the same, and judge the same. They are snobby rich kids who pretend to be people they aren't. I have met my fair share of highly judgemental and clone-like kids while attending this school. The seniors give no support to younger classmates. I do not recommend this school for unique, hardworking individuals.

I am currently a teacher in the Math Department of Edina high school. I love working in this department. It's very rare as a teacher you find yourself in a department in which every single staff member remains dedicated to their job even after many years of service. I have yet to meet a teacher at Edina who is uninterested or burnt out. Every one seems to genuinely care about the quality of their lessons. My department is very collegial. The other other teachers are frequently eager to share ideas and materials, making it a welcoming environment. We collaborate on schedules, curriculum, classroom management, etc... It's nice to be in a place where my coworkers are so helpful and supportive. I would absolutely feel comfortable with any one of them teaching my children.

Strong academic programs with a high level of parent involvement and competitive sports teams. It can be a little 'clicky' at times which may make it more challenging for a transfer student.

Excellent college preparatory high school. Students do well on all measures of academic achievement. Top quality fine arts and athletic programs that include many students. 96% go on to college and do very well. Top of the state in any measure of success. Glad my children attended this school.

This school serves a very elite population of wealthy whites. They are not particularly accomodating or welcoming to students of different social and ethnic backgrounds. I feel that they live in the past with regard to their attitudes toward diversity.

Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school's profile?

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.
