The academic curriculum in this school is lackadaisical at best and there appears to be little to no interest among the senior administrators (principle and school board) to raise the academic standards to other elementary schools in the immediate area. (Ie. Oak Hills Elementary) Our child is consistently not challanged enough academically and after multiple meetings with teachers and administrators we have concluded that this school 'is just getting by' to meet state funding requirements and they don't have the best interests of the students truely in mind. There also seems to be a high turnover of teachers, and the reputation of the principal (among parents and students) is one of being disengaged and ineffective. A change in administration is severely needed. We have moved our child to another school.

The principal at this school is not a bad person, just a bad administrator. This school has one of the highest teacher turnover rates in the district. The good teachers leave; the weak ones stay. As parents, we met with her during the year to keep her apprised of the worsening situation in our daughter's classroom. The principal acknowleged the existence of poor teachers, but cited union contracts as a stumbling block to remove them. No action was ever taken and we moved to a new school. We weren't the only ones. There are several certified teachers who live within the attendance area who open-enroll their kids at other schools. The principal likes and focuses on special programs, especially extracurriculars, but drops the ball on every day curriculum. If you take a great interest in your child's education, I would recommend several visits before you make your decision to attend.
