Total community involvement
—Submitted by a parent

Posted October 8, 2008

Don't be dissuaded by the few disgruntled people who posted here. Hale is a terrific school, in an incredible community, with a relatively diverse student body, many wonderful teachers, and an excellent principal. The vast majority of families are thrilled to be at Hale, and it is one of the most sought after elementary schools in the district. I believe it also has the highest level of parent participation of any school in the district. Contrary to what another reviewer said, the principal clearly thoroughly enjoys the kids, regularly has 'Twins' trivia, gets involved in all school activities, and the kids love him. He also supports and welcomes diverse family structures (which I suspect some of these reviewers are taking issue with). We've been at Hale for six years now, and our children have been well educated and well served.

My child has had a great experience at Hale. The teachers, principal and staff have all been very friendly and responsive to our needs and concerns. He has enjoyed the advanced program and the teacher. It is well known in our neighborhood that Hale has a huge parent involvement and is a great school.

a very average school at best. Not diverse or particularly challenging.

Principal who is more out to persecute children than educate them. A chunk of teachers (with a few shining stars as exceptions) appear to be at the very least control freaks. If you have trouble with this school, I wouldn't bother with the school district, nothing will be done. Incredibly frustrating.

The teachers down talk the students all the time. The office goes along with what ever the teachers says.

Good advanced programs. Plenty of sport, arts etc. to give a well-rounded curriculum. Exceptional level of parental involvement.
