Noble Academy 2

Admin. is bad news. Students are great. Teachers are amazing. Administration is frustrating most of the time because they are inflexible and not up to date on pedagogy. They do not accept input from staff members or use their human resources wisely. They don't get the idea of tapping into teacher strengths to make a greater whole. If you don't agree with their canned computer based curriculum, well then, employment is on at "at will" basis and anyone who disagrees with the totalitarian regime can just go somewhere else. These people are beyond cold. They're very rigid and disrespectful to teachers, always threatening them with job loss. Nice!:)

Develops grit: Agree

It develops grit within a narrow band of behavior. Persistence in getting more and more facts correct in a shorter period of time, for example. But since teachers are warned not to be creative, the students don't have the advantage of getting creative problem solving ideas from their mentors. This is tragic. They may do well working in a corporate office cube in a soulless authoritarian environment someday, but what teacher wants that for their students. There will be few musicians, writers and creative entrepreneurs and innovators with this rote and mechanical canned curriculum. Admin doesn't get it lacking creative ideas themselves in favor of running the school as a totalitarian regime.

Develops respect: Agree

There are high expectations by the teachers and other staff that students are respectful. It is also clear that our students come from families that value respectful behavior and model it at home. Administration is the only stakeholder which does not model respect, but students are shielded from their hubris since admin rarely interact with anyone but each other. Very weird actually.

Teacher effectiveness: Somewhat effective

The teachers are really good and caring, but are limited in what they can do in terms of meaningful wholistic curriculum. They are mostly new teachers who don't know what they should be able to expect from admin and they work in fear because admin threatens them with job loss on a weekly basis for failure to comply with their ridiculous edicts.

Develops empathy: Agree

The teachers and families develop this in their students in spite of an administrative unit that has misconception of compassion, empathy or democratic process.

Grateful to: Staff member

Many staff members do their best to teach rich literature and social justice concepts to their students despite the constant threat and while at the same time obeying the admin edicts by generating data for their ridiculous canned programs .

Develops honesty: Neutral

Teachers consistently support excellent behavior and character development in their classrooms in spite of poor administrative models of kindness and honesty.

Noble Academy is one of the very best schools in Minnesota. I am highly impressed by their standards in education and discipline. Thanks to you guys for all that you do for our future leaders.
