Stride academy had a GREAT plan when they first started out. LOVED IT! However with recent administration changes and the addition of the middle school, they have lost focus and control. The middle school has a HUGE bullying program that they do not want to address and they have a poor disciplinary system in place for adolescence resulting in disrespectful classroom behavior with very little follow through to correct the problem. Sadly in the next two years they will be adding the middle school and elementary schools together at the same location! My children have been with Stride since they're opening day and ALL have been removed from the facility at placed at better more proactive schools : (
My daughter just completed Kindergarten here and absolutely loves it. They are encouraging and willing to work with students of all backgrounds. They also work hard to make everyone feel included. She is making great steps in math and reading, being a kindergartener and being in 1st grade math and 2nd grade reading is impressive. Also nice that they work within the community and bring Tae Kwon Do programs into the school.. definately a blessing for our family!
My kids have been given opportunities at Stride that they never would have received in a traditional school. One of my children was skipped a grade and both kids are working in classes well above their homeroom grade level. They have grown so much academically, emotionally, and socially in the wonderful Stride atmosphere.
My son has grown both academically and socially at Stride. The staff from top to bottom go the extra mile to meet the needs of students. Very parent friendly school.
My two kids are put in reading and math groups beyond their grade because the school does not simply teach by grade, but by a child's needs.
My daughter was falling behind in math at her former public school due to enormous class sizes and overburdened teachers. She was starting to believe she was 'bad at math' and her teacher didn't really do much to encourage her. Since entering Stride she has excelled! It's a great school and parents tend to be more involved since the school requires parent volunteerism. I am thrilled with the school itself as well as the children who my daughter has befriended. It was a wonderful choice for us.
It's true the school offers small size with a cozy community school, but the curriculum lends itself toward a lot of rote learning and repetition. It's heavily worksheet based and (shockingly) light on art/music/extracurriculars. My son withered here and has since thrived at a more innovative, challenging school.
What a wonderful experience this has been for my children. My daughter excelled 2.5 years on her reading level in just one year and enjoyed doing it. Nuturing and supportive academic enviourment. A true blessing for our community.
