Metropolitan Open School offers a very different approach to the present day traditional school in which kids spend their days learning the same thing as every other kid their age. It is a very small school, offering much individualized attention. However, even more than that, it offers students a chance to learn at their own level and own pace. If a 5 year old is ready to research and write her own report on the science subject, then she is expected to do so. If a 9 year old is ready to learn Algebra with an eighth grader, he is given the opportunity to do so. This is one of the few schools that can easily accommodate the highly and profoundly gifted student without having them spend large portions of each day sitting at a computer.
MOS is the perfect place for parents seeking individual attention for their children. The low student-teacher ratio allows one-on-one attention every single day of the school year.
