The students at this small private school are very fortunate to have such an individualized and up to date curriculum. They do hands on learning in every subject, which gives each learner an opportunity to be a creative problem solver. I am their art teacher and have been teaching at MOS for 6 years. It has been a pleasure to be part of this school. I have seen many students graduate with an incredible education.
My son attended this school from 4th through 8th grade. It allowed his to pursue his own interests and work at a quite accelerated pace without requiring (or allowing) him to spend most of his school day on a computer. The science and math curriculum is particularly outstanding but when he entered high school after leaving MOS, his language arts skills were also much more advanced than his fellow honors students.
MOS is the perfect schools for children of all learning styles. Mrs. Ruth is the best teacher that my daughter has had and she really cares about all of her students. I can't say enough about this great little school. My daughter loves the one on one attention because of the small class size. Please give this school a try.
Metropolitan Open School offers a very different approach to the present day traditional school in which kids spend their days learning the same thing as every other kid their age. It is a very small school, offering much individualized attention. However, even more than that, it offers students a chance to learn at their own level and own pace. If a 5 year old is ready to research and write her own report on the science subject, then she is expected to do so. If a 9 year old is ready to learn Algebra with an eighth grader, he is given the opportunity to do so. This is one of the few schools that can easily accommodate the highly and profoundly gifted student without having them spend large portions of each day sitting at a computer.
