Spend your money elseware. I wish they put as much effort into the classroom as they do the hockey team. The math and science department are not good. The administration isolates itself from problems. Hill Murray needs to focus on the education more. It seems that has become secondary to them.
Amazing school with the best hockey program in the state. (and probably country, too) If you live in the east metro and can go there, go there!! And go Pioneers. Probably tghe best school in the state, athletically and academically.
I'm a Hill Murry alumni now looking (and rating) kindergarten programs (and beyond) for our children. Hindsight being 20/20, I say with confidence that Hill Murray is a complete package. Teachers genuinely wish to see students succeed both socially and academically. I continued to a private college where I was proud (and relieved) to have had an impressive academic foundation set in place at Hill. Expensive yes, worth it absolutely! Invest in your children!!
This school has made me feel welcome, and with the stress of college coming - I'm not all that worried because Hill has prepared me for such things. I play three sports at Hill; and I enjoy the courage you get from others, I believe its a tight knit community and everyone can fit in somewhere. Teachers want to see you succeed at this school, not just pass you and forget you.
i have been at Hil for 2 years and its a great school easy to make friends teachers are nice and gets you prepared for college. Go Mr. Otto
i absolutely loved this school. i was there for six years (7-12) and couldn't have been happier anywhere else. yes there were the occasional stuck up rich kids but most people were very nice and down to earth. i felt like i belonged. and all the teachers were very kind to me and my peers. i would recommend this school to anybody!
I have mixed feelings about the experiences my children had at Hill Murray...on the one hand, there were excellent opportunities for extra-curriculars and a great A.P. and Honors program. On the other hand, the quality of teachers was quite poor. HM does not, in any way, embody a good, Catholic environment based on Church teachings. The math and science departments are sporadically strong, with some good teachers and some absolutely dreadful ones, but we had good luck with the social sciences, language, and English departments. HM seems to be mired in beaurocracy and administration, and my final recommendation is to spend your money elsewhere. The school just isn't worth it.
When I arrived at college 5 years ago, I was very well prepared, much more so than many of my peers. Before I graduated, my peers and I were heavily recrutied by Universities. The school may have changed, but during my time English, history and the other humanities were strengths. It is a very safe school with loads of out-of-school activities, not just sports and band.
I would recommend Hill-Murray to anyone. I looked at many different schools, but I chose Hill because of the higher academic standards and the extracurricular opportunities. During my time there I participated in 3 different sports, theatre and other activities. I left Hill with a very strong education, a scholarship to my dream school, great friendships and a strong sense of self. I genuinely do not have any bad memories from high school. After graduation, I found myself to be significantly more prepared than most of my peers, and I credit that to my teachers at Hill. Not every teacher was the best by any means, but there were quite a few great teachers that made an impact. I still consider myself a Pioneer, and I plan to send my own children there.
For a self proclaimed college prep school we were left very DISAPOINTED with what little preparation was done for our child. Very weak Math and English program. If you has a stong interest in hockey or theatre, great school; otherwise- not worth the $8,400.00 price tag.
