The music programs are incredible
I am the parent of five Staples/Motley graduates. The quality of the co-curricular program is excellent. The music programs are incredible and the sports programs have experienced a good deal of success. The academic programs are good, but are facing serious cuts due to financial situations beyond local control.
Music program is fantastic!
I am the parent of a 2004 graduate as well as a junior in high school. The quality of Staples Motley academic programs is excellent. My daughter was able to take college credit through the high school courses. She earned enough credits - from high school - to equal a year of college. Most of the teachers are very dedicated. The extracurricular opportunities are awesome. The coaches (atheletic, drama, speech) are very dedicated to helping the students achieve at high levels. Very few schools in the state have an orchestra; Staples Motley has an outstanding orchestra. When compared to other area schools, I think Staples Motley has high standards and provides a very good education - if students take advantage of the opportunities.
I also think that the graduation standards should be lowered! It doesn't help when it suddenly changes from year to year, giving kids no time to get the credits they need to graduate!
This school has unexceptible atitude toward their sports and activities. The students deserve more privacy, does a small town school really need all them camaras?!? The school also needs to have the graduation credit requirements lowered so that the students do not have to take extra classes or go to a summer programs so they can graduate. Also the parents and students should be able to find out where all the schools funds go to. The school should send out a letter with all the data and information so we know what the school is doing with all the funds and who they support. Thank you for 'listening'.
