We have two children at WSHS and will soon have more. I am very impressed with the variety of classes offered and the competence and caring attitude that the teachers have for students. My son has always been able to ask teachers for help outside of the class period, or to take a test that he had missed ...outside of the school day, and the teachers have been supportive. The current administration has handled a number of diverse 'problems' with student welfare as the most important concern. I am proud to be a Winhawk and have my kids be a part of such a wonderful environment in which to learn and grow.

We no longer have children attending WAPS. However, our first three kids attended Winona Area Public Schools and graduated from WSHS. What a fantastic high school and staff! Each of these young people were able to go on to a university or a tec school and were able to compete admirably! I am so sorry to hear that the high school class sizes have burst to over 30 and even over 40 students. I hope the community is supporting the fine educators in the district verbally as well as financially. I believe, no, I KNOW that the WAPS education our first three children received was of a higher quality than the private school experience our other children have had since we moved from Winona.
