The teachers are very involved with the students. They know the kids well as they have them for more than one year. I am very comfortable working with my daughters teachers, and they are very good about letting me know what is going on. I also enjoy volunteering at the school.

This school is phenomenal. We are in our 5th year of attendance and hope all 4 of our children are fortunate to attend VCCS. This is a school that truly has the best interests of the children at heart. The entire atmosphere is so peaceful, caring, and supportive. Children learn to respect and listen all while thriving in an environment that promotes high level adacemics. To learn more about the method of teaching at VCCS, research 'responsive classroom'. This is how children should be taught in all schools. If you are new to or moving to this community, do your child a favor and consider VCCS.

There has been less collaborative effort between parents and teachers in the last few years than before. It feels as if parents concerns are ignored and not addressed and the leadership is more interested in making excuses than addressing issues.

My child was new to this school as a fourth grader. The teachers, principal and other staff and volunteers made the transition so seamless. They were all so welcoming and created an environment that was comfortable and not at all embarassing; being the new kid. My child now loves school (loathed it before), always does homework without complaining, and takes pride in schoolwork/assignments. This semester, my child will be taking Spanish, which is only offered at 1 other elementary school in the district.

The amount of parent involvement makes this school a cut above the rest. Teachers and parents working together makes a successful child. Great attitudes, awesome resources, and a diverse group of teachers with many different teaching styles keeps my kids hopping. They love school.
