The principal and the school board have removed parents from the disciplinary process entirely by means of their policies. For example, they confiscate children's belongings and do not even notify parents. This causes the children to distrust the teachers and administration, and to attempt to bypass what they rightfully see and patently unfair. Such policies distract from the learning process more than the behavior the policies attempt to curb.
