Independence High School

I think they need to work on the standards of the counselor. There were several students to graduate wih honors but the help provided by the counselor was close to none existent. We need counselors who care for all races when it comes to selecting grants and helping with scholarships.

IHS is a small and very welcoming school, which concentrates on teaching the core academic subjects. I would highly recommend IHS to any parent looking for a safe environment for there child to learn in.

I think IHS and IJHS are very committed to the students quality of life and education.I will have to admitt I was somewhat worried when we moved from DeSoto that it would be a difficult adjustment for my children.The faculity quickly helped ease our worries-the children could not be any happier with thier change begining at East Tate Elementry and ending at graduation with IHS!I would like to say thank you for being so committed to the children and not the luxuries.My children are currently enrolled in 7th and 8th grade and have two younger brothers soon to follow.

both of my children have gone to independence high. one of which graduated from there this last may. i ahve no problems with the school or the students here. it is not quiet as advanced as other schools but the overall atmosphere is much better than most. we don't have a lot of extra curriculam activities but our teachers do concentrate on the subjects they are teaching. i would strongly recommend our school to anyone who wants a wholesome education without the drugs and violence! our staff does a wonderful job and i appreciate them. also the uniform idea made back 2 school shopping a much more pleasant experience. thanks!
