I am a former Heritage Academy Patriot. I was bullied here constantly. I was so glad my parents actually decided to move away from this place. This even happened in front of some of my teachers and they didn't even care. I only went to elementary school here and not the high school. I wouldn't recommend anyone send their children here, unless you hate them. At one point, I didn't even come back in from recess. I just stayed outside until it was time to go home and no one noticed, no one cared. That's about what you can expect here, small minds and smaller hearts!!

You can't go wrong choosing to send your children to Heritage Academy if you live in this area. Very devoted teachers and staff. The average ACT score this last year was a 25 and every child was offered scholarships. They've assembled a great and caring staff at both the elementary and high school. The athletic coaches are devoted and won several state championships last year.

Best in the area...but that's not saying much! Yes, the High Schoolers are given laptops to use...too bad that's all this school really has to offer them. Academics are WAY BELOW AVERAGE compared to almost another state's public schools. Firmly believe that when we finally transfer out of the area my son will be behind at least 1yr, maybe 2yrs. It HURTS me EVERY MONTH to PAY for such a pathetic education:( It is the best you can hope for in the area though and that is what my family has to keep telling itself...we just CAN'T do any better HERE! The High School is poorly run with crazy schedules that are never communicated (even on the school calendar). Some of the front office staff speak poorly of parents, even if other parents are present, laugh at you on the phone if you call to ask any questions, and in general make the school an even worse environment than it has to be. Sports are minimal and clubs are lacking. ZERO homework, NO real projects, MINIMAL writing assignments. In short, you probably don't have another choice in the area, UNFORTUNATELY that means your children will be sorely behind and have an AWFUL time trying to raise the bar once they enter college:(

Heritage Academy is the best school in the Golden Triangle. The new headmaster is very academically focused. The classes are small enough for the teachers to have wonderful one-on-one attention with each student. The technology the school uses with its students is uncomparable in the area. Each student 9-12 grade is issued their own laptop computer. All other students have access to computers for assignments and research. There is a wide variety of sports programs for all students to participate in. . All three of my children were well prepared for college when they left Heritage. If I had to do it all over again, I would have started my first two in the K-program, instead of waiting until 7th grade. The new elementary principal has made incredible improvements at the school, and I hear there are more to come. There are positive and negatives to every school in the area. No school is perfect, but for the Golden Triangle area you can't beat the quality of Heritage Academy. Not only will your child get a good education, but they will like the teachers, their friends, and the environment, which always makes learning more enjoyable. I miss being a Heritage Academy Patriot.

This school is the best you can hope for in the area. Unfortunately, compared to almost any other public school in any other state, this school really lacks everything. The facilities aren't great, the teachers aren't great, and the academics are SORELY lacking. If your child will be attending a MS University or college it will suffice, however if they have any higher expectations be prepared for them to be WAY BEHIND the most average of curves. My advice...if you are economically trapped in this area or are stationed here due to the military, try to get out as quick as you can, however this school will DO until you can and is definitely your best option. If you have any choices at all in your families location or children's education, avoid at all costs! On a positive not worry about safety at this school, it's small enough to almost guarantee you will have zero problems.

I think Heritage is a GREAT school. My parents & other parents started Heritage Academy for me my 3rd grade year. I love what it stands for and the way Heritage prepares my children for college and life skills. I would highly recommend Heritage to any new person coming to Columbus, MS.

My child has been in the public school system and has recently enrolled at Heritage as a high school senior. Our experience, already, has been phenominal! The school is focused on educating the "whole" child, the administration and teachers are hands on, approachable, positive and the parents are so involved. Heritage has the most welcoming atmosphere I have ever seen. This atmosphere is so conducive to learning and excelling. I look forward to this year and this experience. Should have made this decision a long time ago!!!

2 of my children have attended Heritage Academy and I have been very pleased with their education and the positive influence the school has had on them. My daughter graduated this past year and I was extremely impressed with her ACT score.

Heritage Academy has the highest academic standards in this area. Heritage Academy was one of the first schools in the state to partner with Apple and provide Macbooks for each high school student.

My children have been attending Heritage Academy for the past 6 years, and we have been very happy with the academic excellence that Heritage is known for. The teachers and Head Master care very much about each and every child.

Yes, there are some excellent teachers at Heritage Elementay School, but I was very disappointed with way things were run at the High School Level, as the Headmaster catered to a few select parents. Some of the High School teachers should have retired long ago and/or stayed retired from the public school system instead of being hired on at the private sector. The present counselor does not like the students and they know it, as she shows her favortism openly; there are too many cliques and bullying. For the amount of tuition being paid the education level is behind other states by about two years.

Heritage Academy has been a wonderful experience for our family. The classroom environment is both challenging and enjoyable for the children. Parents are well informed about student activities and are encouraged to participate. The students are under the guidance of great leadership! The academic program at Heritage is kept at a high standard and the test scores prove that. We wished we had transferred to The Heritage Family years ago!!!

I could not be happier with our experience at Heritage. We have three children who are all very happy with the elementary and high school. This school has a family friendly atmosphere, dedicated teachers and administration, and is providing the children a college prep curriculum education. We have friends in Jackson, MS and Nashvlle, TN who are surprised at the level of education our children our getting for the tuition compared to private schools in their cities. The Apple computer program is great, and the ACT/SAT test scores are impressive.

I have had my 2 children enrolled here for the last 3 years, and I can't say how much I and my children love it. I grew up here in Columbus and went to public school, and the things my children are already learning is beyond belief for a 1st grader. He is reading chapter books, doing fractions, and learning french. As for the "outsiders", I have not felt that way. I grew up poor and have become a professional as an adult, but everyone there treats me like I graduated from there. I LOVE IT. Try it yourself, I think you will love it to.

The principal is amazing and is completely dedicated to the school. The teachers are very good and are highly qualified. The student life may be very intimidating to anyone outside of a certain tax bracket, as everyone is generally well off and isn't afraid to flaunt it.

I am a parent and have had 2 graduate from Heritage. We researched very carefully all of the schools in the area when we moved here several years ago. We moved from another state and public school. My children adjusted nicely to the caring environment. Both my children received academic scholarships upon graduation and the school's ACT average school is the top in the area, except for MSMS. We found Heritage to be a great school in many areas and teachers who are caring and want to be at Heritage.

I've been a student at Heritage since my kindergarten year, and I have to say I have had a very pleasant experience while at Heritage. My favorite year was my sixth grade year and my teacher that year was the most caring, kind person I've ever met. She truly cares about each and every one of her students. Even though the high school has it's cliquey issues, I realize that's a part of life and will be everywhere you go, regardless of public/private school. Heritage is the first MPSA accredited school in the state to partner with Apple to distribute state-of-the-art Apple Macbooks to every student in grades 7th-12th starting in January 2008. This will enhance the learning capibility and technology for our school, also attracting military base families and families involved with Sever Corr, as well. Heritage is a great school, and has a faculty that is second to none!

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
