My daughter went to Anniston for two years after attending another local "Blue Ribbon" school and the difference was baffling. She was not doing well and was "behind" at the previous school, but the wonderful educators at Anniston not only got her caught up to grade level, but now she is in Middle School and is ahead of most of her peers from surrounding schools. No only did she thrive, but she LOVED Anniston. So impressive! Thank you so much, Ms. Shoemake, Ms. Stokes, and Dr. Payne! I cannot say enough wonderful things about you all.
I'm looking good school for my daughter. I'm not happy with the school teaching system at.......That is why I'm trying to get better school for her.
My daughter currently attends this school. Since we live on the Seabee base this is not the school she was supposed to attend but after filling out a waiver she was approved to attend Anniston. Best decision of my life! She loves school and is so excited to go every day. Her teacher, Mrs. Huffman and her assistant are amazing educators. I have no complaints about this school. However, if you do not want to participate in your child's education don't send them here. They do have homework (yes, in Kindergarten) but it is to reinforce what is being taught in the class and is never that long. Every time I have gone to the school I have been greeted by the great staff. This school is one of the biggest reasons I am so sad to leave this area!
As a parent transferring my child from a private school environment to the public school system, I have been incredibly pleased with my child's progress while at Anniston Elementary. She has excelled in all of her classes, particularly math, an area of concern for me while she was in private school and a motivating factor for the transfer to a Level 5 school. My daughter's educational opportunities have been enhanced by the Quest and Strings programs. Top rated school, particularly under the administration of Dr. Carol Payne and Jonathan Dill. As my child readies to enter middle school, I could not be more pleased with my decision to send her to Anniston. Particular kudos go out to Mrs. Glenn and Mrs. Stokes for their special influence on my daughter's educational, emotional and physical well- being.
My children have been students at Anniston for 3 years and we absolutely love it. The staff and administrators are wonderful.
I would just like to say that Anniston has always been First Class! I was a student at Anniston back when it was 1st thru 6th grade and without wonderful teachers that I had, I don't think I would have made it thru Jr. High and High School. I also have put 2 kids thru Anniston, and I have 1 in Kindergarden and 1 in the 4th Grade. I can honestly say that I still go back and see my favorite teacher of all times and that is Ms. Stokes! Without her, I would have never made it thru with All Accelerated Classes. Now at 34, I'm back in College and maintaining a 4.0 GPA with the Study Skills Ms.Stokes taught me. THANKS ANNISTON for having such a great group of Teachers who care for the Students and for Learning.
Anniston has been a great school for my two children. Parents are very involved and the teachers really care... especially Ms. Stokes. I am moving and wish I could bring her with me!
Anniston has an excellent staff and caring teachers. Both the art and music programs are wonderful and my daughter took violin while there. Both my girls were in the gifted program which they loved and it helped them go on to accelerated classes in Jr. High and High School. The oldest received full scholarship from MSU and I credit that in part to her excellent foundation at Anniston. I highly recommend Anniston for your child and parent involvement is welcomed.
We found the principal and staff to be involved and positive in their interactions with students and parents; providing a safe and challenging learning environment at Anniston Elementary School. Academics were solid focusing on reading, writing and arthmetic. Extracurricular events were sufficient and the PTSA was active. The school environment was very open to parent involvement. Students were greeted and dismissed daily by the principal and teaching staff. We were very happy with the safe, nurturing academic environment the school and district provided our family.
This will be our 2nd year at Anniston Elem. & we are looking forward to it. My oldest was in Mrs. Foster's 1st grade class last yr and she was wonderful! She worked with us thru his diffcult periods and encouraged us all the way. My youngest can't wait to start kindergarten this year and my only hope is his teachers & the 2nd grade teacher is just as wonderful! The principal, school nrs, the bus drivers & the school secretary recieve as much praise as the teacher! Thank you all for a making 2004-05 a wonderful year!
