The staff at Bayou View Elementary is extremely caring and supportive of families of special needs students transitioning from pre-k to kindergarten. During transition meetings, staff provided families with needed information and welcomed them to Bayou View Elementary. Parents appreciated the caring attitude.

The teachers and administrators at this school are first rate all the way! They always put forth their best effort and the end result is phenomenal! The school itself is amazing inside, and it is something that must be seen to be believed - you just need to go there and you will know what I mean. It is amazing! It is not a wasted trip, trust me.

If you want your child to have a rigorous curriculum that can compete with any other state, then Bayou View Elementary is the school for you. The entire faculty and staff care about their students. They build relationships with the children so that the students want to come to school each day and learn. The administration is very approachable and has an open door policy. They encourage parents to visit frequently. The parental support is fantastic. I have been in several states, and this school is the very best. If you want a top-notch education for your child--with people who care, then BVE is for you. Contrary to an earlier post, we feel a part of the BVE family even though we are not wealthy. The administrators and teachers care for the students no matter what income bracket or race.

I have to agree 100% with the last comment/rate posted on here from Oct. 2008. I am from the Gulf Coast and recently moved back here from another state and I did a ton of reasearch on the schools in the area. I saw that BVE was a 'great school' actually they are the '#1 rated elem. school' in MS. My daughter attneded a very good private school where we used to live. I put her there to give her a great foundation which she did get. Upon moving back to MS, I noticed that she was ahead of the children in her K class, even the teacher told me she was on a 1st grade level. I spoke to the teacher and principal on several occasions and they did not want to move her. They also tested my child with out my knowledge for her skills.

I sent my daughter to private preschool trying to give her a jump start on her education. When she started Kindergarden she was ahead of the other students. Things they were learning now she mastered last year at 4. They wouldn't test her or move her to a more advanced class. I ended up having to take her out to home school her because she was developing problems caused by her boredom in school. We are moving to South Carolina where they test their kindergardeners. There are way to many kids being labeled troubled do to their advanced skills. I wasn't at all happy with the way the staff handled our situation or my repeated attempts for them to sit down with her and test her skills. This school may be one of the best in Mississippi but compared to other states I've lived in it's one of the worst.

Wow, where do I start! BVE is a great school.I have two children at BVE and 1 has been there for all six years. The councelor, Mr. Barnes is wonderful. He is fun and energetic and the kids love him. My child has ADHD and struggled in school but he is on his way to making the honor roll. I could not ask for a more supportive staff. I communicate almost weekly (sometimes daily) with the my children's teachers. The door at BVE is always open. The acedemics, teachers, and parent involvement are top notch. As far as a previous comment about race and money posted, my children are biracial and middle income and that has never affected how we are treated. Parent involvement is expected! Don't come to BVE if you just want to send you children to school and forget about it. Homework starts in kindergarden!

This school is top notch. There is a great core of teachers and staff in place and it is a wonderful setting. They provide a great moral upbringing for their students. Mrs Wilks is great at all levels . They also have a great counselor there, He is young and energetic. My children come home begging me to make them see the counselor. The kids really like him there. BVE is just great all together.
