I completely agree with ". I think this school is more concerned with strictly enforcing every rule emagineable, than actually teaching students what they need to learn to become productive adults. I want my kid to taught, not policed. He's willing to learn anything, just teach him something new". Plus they give the students extra grades for things they don't control, like "bring in a ream of paper and you get an extra A" or "If your parent comes to Open House, you get an extra A". It's ridiculous!! My child earns A's & B's and is bright, friendly, and respectful. But this school gets ridiculous on the amount of energy they put into policing.

My son attends BVMS for 6th, 7th and now 8th grade. He loves the school but does not feel the teachers take there time in teaching and explaining. On a daily basis we as parents have to help in detail with homework and at times it gets frustration because we as parents are not sure how they want the child to learn the material. Also it would be nice at this level if they would really teach the students how to study. We as parents tell the child to study and can I help but at school with educated teacher I as a parent would love it if they would have a studies skilled class.

Bayou View is one of the best schools not only in the state but in the country. The administrative and teaching staff in above compare. The school atmosphere is great and the diversity is one of it's best atributes. If you are a parent looking for a school that is equally competitive for everyone thwn this is the place for you. Go Vikings!

I believe BVMS is wonderful. My son attended 6th and 7th grade at BVMS and is currently in 8th grade. He and I both realized the educational advantage BVMS offers. He loves his school. He's in band, jazz band, newspaper staff, football and is rehearsing for the school play. I feel he has received everything he needs to be ready for high school this fall. The teachers are great. The Independent studies program has been most helpful in encouraging my son to believe that he can do any task put before him if he believes in himself and puts forth his best effort.

My child averaged about a 'b' in fifth grade and was always complimented on his behavior and maturity. At bvms, he tells me that he has not learned anything new this year. He made straight a's on his progress report, but has been to detention several times, in school suspension several times, and written up several other times, all while maintaining an 'a' average without even studying or doing homework. I think this school is more concerned with strictly enforcing every rule emagineable, than actually teaching students what they need to learn to become productive adults. I want my kid to taught, not policed. He's willing to learn anything, just teach him something new. Maybe elementary school is too advanced, or 6th grade should still be part of elementary school, but my son is not advancing educationally this scool year!

BVMS has to be the best middle school in the state! The teachers and administrative staff are great and very helpful. The students are very well behaved. We are so pleased with BVMS.

I agree about having a great staff and teachers, but the only thing I disagree with is not letting the students have lockers. My son rode his bike to school most of last year until he started complaining about his back bothering him. We tried to only carry books for that day, but that didn't work out because of us getting confused what day it was and he would go to class with the wrong books.

BVMS has wonderful teachers and staff. The bad thing is that they are really strict and students have no freedom. Kids will be kids, and they should be treated like young adults not like Juvie breakouts
