I really hate to see bad reviews about a school. Give these teachers a chance. You know that education starts at home, and a classroom of students that are not encouraged at home is very disappointing to a teacher. Respect is taught from birth and should be reinforced by parents and other role models in thier lives. This is a wonderful small town with a school that could really be an inspiration to each of us. Believe in your teachers, school staff, and students. Inspire and build each other up.
I am a graduate of West Oktibbeha County High School. Unfortunately. I want to start by saying that all of their best teachers are no longer there. There are maybe two, possibly three teachers that are worth anything that are still left. The nurse, librarian and guidance counselor are wonderful, but that hardly makes up for the rest of the school. The students are disrespectful, parents would rather take part in the drama of their children's social interactions than actually be a part of their children's lives. One out of three students sleep during class, the entire football time is practically failing every grade, and the teachers are not able to teach the required material properly for lack of funding and proper support. There are substitute teachers that come in and sleep or play movies or gossip or flirt with the students. The students run the school and it is nonsense. The children are disrespectful and it is horrible. The previous principle was a joke. I believe she is now assistant principle. She spent all of her time in her office eating fried chicken. She once handed a teacher her evaluation form WITH GREASY FINGERPRINTS ON IT! Something has to be done about the school.
The new principal is the best they have ever had yet. Although they lost some of their best teachers. Everyone knows who you are and who your children are and that is important when you need to discuss the important issues. There are some problems in this school, but it's mainly with students and not so much with teachers and staff. Their small size limits some of the activities they offer, but there are still clubs and sports. I think they are definitely on the way up.
This is a quality school. The administrative staff as well as the teachers, show how much they care about the students they teach.
