I have heard from several parents at this school that they wished they moved in the Madison Station or Mannsdale district, because this school has become a run down place and that the principle will send home notes threatening the parents that she (Mrs Jones) will paddle their kids if they do wrong again. I would not recommend this school to anyone, go else where if you want your child to have a great learning experience to where he or she will thrive not fall back because the staff is slow at teaching and the prinicple needs to be Fired!!!!!
My granddaughter who is in the 1st gradw just transferred from Mannsdale's elementary school to MAE. When my daughter meet the teacher and was showed what they were learning my daughter voiced her concern to the principle because it was what they had learned last year in Kindergarten at Mannsdale. The principle told her if she didn"t like it to pull her out. That behavior is unacceptable for a principle. I feel she should of tried to help reassure the parent . That behavior makes me question the learning atmosphere at the school
This school is all smoke and mirrors. They put on a good show, but don't really teach your children. Phonics would be a novel approach to education here. My advice is to either go to Madison Station or do private school until they can go to Madison Avenue Upper.
I have found this to be an unwelcoming place for me and my child. I would not recommend this school to anyone.
This school has been a great disappointment. We moved to Madison for the school system but found out all this consists of is worksheet after worksheet. The children are marched in circles everyday in the pretense of being healthy.
The teachers and principal are wonderful and truly love the chidren. The parents are also very involved and supportive of the school and of the teachers. All of which makes for a fun and nurturing environment for the children to grow and learn.
This is hands down the best elementary school in the state. Kudos to Mrs. Jones and all the teachers at MAE. I, myself, grew up in Madison and attended a local private school, but am convinced that my daughter is getting an even better education at MAE than I got in private school.
I have three children that have/will attend Madison Avenue Lower and we have been extremely pleased. I am most impressed by the attention to the Arts.
I have taught school in three different districts in this area. These are the best kids around and its not just from the teachers.. it really starts at home. Keep doing what you have been doing, MAE!!
Best school in the state of Mississippi! Best teachers and staff! Don't waste you money on private schools!
