Teachers and administrators are willing to listen to your opinions and give you encouragement and support. My children participate in the band program, which is excellent, and this program fosters pride, responsibility and self-discipline.
As a Pontotoc High School graduate, I can assure people that academics are strong and there is a lot of focus on them. However, the most intense focus is the development of the student as an all around person who can contribute positively to society. We, as students, were preached to on one prevailing theme: 'pride and attitude.' Our administration and teachers believed that if they could instill in us a sense of pride in ourselves and our school we would have little options aside from success. Secondly, we had an attitude - we believed we were the best, a part of something special. To reinforce these feelings Pontotoc has an excellent record: Level 5 accredidation, National Blue Ribbon School, innumberable state athletic championships, all around sports awards, and most importantly great teachers and principals demanding excellence from their highly qualified students everday.
