The faculty and staff at VHS show a sincere concern for the students and their future. Teachers are available before school and after school to work with those students who feel they need help. NO student is ever turned away. Teachers work with parents as well. Students have to work to earn grades; grades are not given. This is the way education is supposed to work.

This is a great school for those who want to actually learn something and make something of themselves.. The staff may not be as advanced as other schools but they do care for its students as well as the school.. I would recommend this school to anyone who wants to be something in life and succeed at it..

My second child , Julianna is a senior at VHS. We have had a wonderful time and had the best of teachers. As I say to all, please come and visit Vicksburg High School. Come through the doors of the school and meet the wonderful people that have loved and taught my girls so much. We have always had a great parent group that has always been there for the students. When Haley my first daughter had graduated from VHS and was attending MSU in her first few weeks as a freshman, she called home and said 'mom and dad, I really have to study but I'm doing well. I did get a good education from Vicksburg High.' That said it all, yes you have schools that have good days and bad. We appreciate the faculity that has given so much to the girls and I know they will be missed.

Having had three children go to VHS, I have seen changes over the last 15 years that show great progress in the classroom setting There has also been great opportunities for students to become involved in several organizations that foucs activites on community involvement. No, VHS is not the 'promise land', but it is one of the best and safest schools in the state.

Vicksburg High was the best high school that I had been to ever. The staff was very understanding of everyone's learning ability and the fact that the best history teacher in the district, if not the state (Mr.Wong), to my knowledge still works there. The student body is more that accepting of all new comers and the extracurricular activities are the best in the district, in my personal opinion. The level of parent involvement could be better. Overall, Vicksburg High has much to offers its students, and is a great experience for everybody who attends.

I would like to see the teachers get more involved with the students. Seems to me if there is a whole lot of the children failing the class it has to be the teacher.

I go to Vicksburg High School, and I currently will be a senior in the fall. I believe Vicksburg could be better. Like, we could get a better principle, and some more teachers. But, we will always have pride in our school. For instince, our band. The rock, if I may say so myself. The band keeps the crowd pumped up with so much spirit its unbelievable at peprallys and football games. I however, do not believe that our school is very safe. I think the school would be better if we could just get some more security.

I graduated from VHS in 2005 and I firmly believe that I recieved a wonderful education, and I was prepared for college. I am extremely glad that I had the priviledge of attending this school. So many of the teachers had a positive influence on my life and I am glad to have been taught by every single one. :) There is also the best band ever at Vicksburg High School!

I have to commend Vicksburg High greatly, as my friend said, yes there is going to be problems in every school, but we are family. I love the JROTC and choir programs. I also enjoy the band. I like the wide variety of sports available to all students. About discipline, it is not the faculty's fault about that because we should know that regardless of what we do, we can't make a teenager do what they don't want to. It is always our decision. It is pitiful to even think that adults should want to control our minds. I have to commend Mr. Charlie Tolliver on all he does. Many people don't, but he has to be a very strong individual to handle such a large school. God Bless! - Varissa Friley

I have to agree with the parent that would send her child some else if affordable. Being a former student of VHS I strongly agree that the VHS system is one of the poorest I have seen. Although extracurricular activities are 5 stars I personally, think others would agree, would like to see academics and safety made just as important as the local football game. The students are not challenged and the teachers don't seem to care whether there students are learning or just attending. VHS needs a lot of work and until they actually start hiring teachers that genuienly care they will always be on the bottom of the list with me. Sincerly, ABH2(AW/SW) Brent J. Overall, the school is okay. There are some great teachers and an excellent band for students to be a part of. You can't ask for a better band program. I feel there is a need for more discipline and stricter dress codes. Not uniforms, but not allowing kids to come dressed in inappropriate clothing. There is 'Gator' pride... and a lot of it. Did I mention the band program is awesome!

I atttend VHS, and overall I think it is a good school. Like most schools, we experience problems but we stick together and always make it through. Pride can be found throughout VHS wherever you look. The most of the students are great and so are most of the teachers. No school is perfect and I am angered by the parent who tried to down my school.

I have had at least 1 child attending this school every year since 1993. My youngest child is now a junior. Over the years I have witnessed a steady decline in overall morale of the students and parents. If I could afford to send my child to a private school, I would do it without any hesitation.
