Mr. Harrell has done a fantastic job of rebuilding morale and student buy-in at MCHS. "The COUNTY" may never be an academic powerhouse, but kids there get plenty of support and opportunities, should they choose to excel. Great job Mustangs!
Though I graduated Mac High 20+ yrs. ago, I will tell you that I wouldn't of changed a thing. School is on the student to learn. Sure, some teachers are better than others. But at a small school, you can get the attention needed if the student asks for it. My son is finishing a jr. high school larger than Mac High and will be going to a high school in one of largest school districts in the state of Texas. Enjoy that family atmosphere that Mac High delivers! The student/parents are just as responsible as the teachers! -----J.Townsend
4/14/2011 Sadly over half of the students are failing, the list consist of over 21 sheets of names. Why?

I think the mchs is a great place to go to high school. There is tons of extracurricular activities. The teachers are devoted to helping the students and making each day fun.

I think the MCHS was a wonderful high school.. I was a very active athlete and was very active in every part of the school from the art club to student council.. I would say that the teachers in this school are super people.. Every group has some bad seeds but I truly believe that this school is very caring.. I loved al 4 years I was there.. I still keep in contact with several of my teachers and coaches that I had even after I have graduated college and moved to a different state... I had a whole table at my wedding with teacher from my high school that I still keep in contact with.. They are in every aspect my mentors.. Its something i didnt realize until many years after i graduated so thanks very one!

I am not a parent but I was enrolled in McDonald County High School. I enjoyed the more intimate atmosphere the teachers provided. I do NOT think I would have learned as much or pushed myself as hard to suceed if I was in a larger school. I also loved how motivated the students where when it came to extracirucular activities. The staff at the High School is absolutly wonderful! Mrs. Kirk helped me make very important decisions in my life. This school may not be huge and offer every class you could imagine but it does gives it's students a chance. So for those of you who did not like the High School maybe you or your child should try to get more involved. I for one am very proud to say that I am a graduate of McDonald County High School! Well i am not a parent but just graduated from this school in 2005. I moved here from a big town in kansas. It might take a year to get used to the school and the town but once you get to find your friends you get pulled in like family and everyone will know you and talk to you. Teachers really help the kids alot and for the kids that need the one on one attention and the help they will be there for you.

I am not a parent, but I am a student currently attending McDonald County High School...What do I think? This is the worst school I have ever heard of...it is a complete joke. I will graduated next year and feel completely unprepared for college. I will have to attach a note saying that I took the hardest classes my school has to offer basically because compared to all of the other college applicants my course load is easy as pie...we have absolutely no AP classes, not even any advanced classes. Also, there is a complete lack of college preparatory programs. At other schools, students often meet with counselors to plan for college, but we meet with counselors the summer before senior year to make sure we can graduate. Absolutely no guidance provided. As I recall some classes had absolutely no books. This is school for goodness sake. How can students learn without books?

Im am not a parent but was a former student, I just noticed the comment from concerened parent. They have a wonderful art program. I was in band and drama I did not take art because I did not enjoy it, also the principal is not a coach.

I went to McDonald County High School. I ended up dropping out and getting my GED. If you are a person who is sports orientated, this is the school for you, as you do not have to study hard to make good grades, just play well.

Even though we are put down.. MCHS still stands proud. we love where we send our children. we are proud to be apart of such a caring school. everyone supports the teachers the staff and the parents. It is a small school with a big heart. We believe in ourselves and if others would also there is no telling what this school could acomplish.

I'm not a parent, but I am a student at this school. Over the past few years this school has improved. I love some of the new teachers and I think they will be good for the school. Mrs. Taylor, an english teacher, is one of those with amazing spirt and paitence. Mrs. Durham, the spanish teacher is the most energized teacher I have ever met. I do have my opion of the teachers I like. Others beside the ones stated are mrs. Whittenburg, mrs. Kelly, mrs, smith, mr. Roe, and c.Lenz. I hope the the people who went to this school and disliked it, consider how time changes things and how great a school mchs is becoming. Julie Thrasher.

I was a student at Mc Donald County High for 4 years and graduated from mcdonald county high. I loved it! All my teachers knew me on a first name basis and were able to work one on one with me the entire time I was there. That is the one thing I loved about mcdonald county. The school is not so large to where the teachers don't have time to spend with the students. The class sizes were small which gave teachers the one on one time they needed for each individual student. Violence and drug related activities were not tolerated and each student knew this while attending mcdonald county high. There was room to work on extracurricular activities in school, I do feel there were more activities they could have offered the students.

This high school is a great school, my son just started the year and won't stop talking about it. I've met all his teachers and most of them seem to care about their home life just as much as their school work. This school deserves more money though.

I currently have 3 students in McDonald County High, a Junior, a Sophmore and a Freshman. I think that for the most part the teachers are really good. You always have a few bad in with the good. This school offers several different types of credits for graduating. For example, the college bound is more core credit orientated, where as the Industrial graduate has more arts credits. This give the students more choice in classes than when I went to high school where every one had to have the same classes and same number of credits to graduate. If your student is into Football, or other sports, but exspecially football, they will love this school. If they are more into band, choir, drama, etc. they will not like this school! All my students are into the arts type of classes, and it is very frustrating when the school does everything it can to support the sports, (the principle is assistant football coach), but when it comes to an activity that you actually get a grade for in school, like band, the school refuses to support them!
