We love Oak Brook and our experience has been positive for both our kids. The staff is courteous and helpful. We like direct access to the principal and vice-principal on all student matters. The open door policy is much appreciated. The school has new classrooms and lockers for students. Most teachers are great!
Oak Brook is a great school with great facilities. I'm not sure what the old review from 2005 was about teaching from trailers. The building is well designed with "pods" for each grade level that are more than spacious enough. My experience with the teachers, staff, and principle have all been excellent. Oak Brook / Parkway is the best school district in the area. There is also a strong sense of community at Oak Brook among parents and great events organized by the PTA. Parkway also offers full day kindergarten for free which has produced increase literacy rates among students.
The facilities and staff at Oak Brook are excellant. My daughter has excelled there and is even ahead academically of her friends at other Parkway elementary schools. The open classrooms, while taking some getting use to, are great in teaching the children to focus on their task at hand. It also leads to greater social interaction between all students at the grade level as many time the classes are combined for special learning events. I am very pleased that we made the decision to move out daughter from another nearby Parkway school to Oak Brook.
The classrooms at this school are in a constant state of chaos. In 4-6th, all of the classes in each grade are located in one giant room with no walls. There is constant noise and mess in every corner. Every inch of the outer walls are covored with posters and signs in most of the 'rooms'. The luckiest students get to be instructed in a trailor. The teachers and staff are unattentive and often expect children who can not sit still in this overstimulating enviroment to be medicated. This school does offer excellent music and art programs, including many afterschool activities.
