Have a daughter who was a 2002 grad- have a daughter who I sent to private school who graduated in 2008, have a son who needs extra help who attends here- 2002- grad now a teacher but discovered she has math learning disability which was never addressed while in a blue springs school, got very low math grades and experts never attempted to discover ld in math- 2008 grad daughter from private high school would never have done as well if we had allowed her to attend bsshs- she got an excellent education because we placed her privately-son who needs support instead gets written up and disciplined every other day, suffering major depression and is ay extreme risk of dropping out- no staff has adequate tgraining and are lacking in compassion and support to students who are in need of extra effort to be successful-

My child packed as many advanced placement courses as we could into the schedule. Participated in athletic and music programs...music program was average, sport expeirence was above average. Overall a very good experience with some high points and some low points. Earned academic scholarships to attend out of state college for about half the normal cost. No complaints here.

Now that a new band director is at the school, the band is the place to be. They know how to handle things coming from a rough neighbor hood. The teachers arent so hot, football players basically think they are incredible but really they are no where near anything special, but band is amazing, go Jaguar Pride

The main flaw of this school is the overall abundance of athletic people on a high horse, especially the upper classmen, I went to this school for 2 years and I couldnt beleve how rude everyone was, I then moved and was attending BSHS were i found the overall atmosphere to be much more pleasent, the teachers and students tend to be a bit more polite and the athletics are focused on fun and not drilling like your in the military.

Anyone who wants to join a sport or activity has to have a car or be hanging around the school until someone can get off work. They get out at two and clubs last maybe 1 hour and the rest of the time are just hanging around school which is frowned upon. Not every kids family is well off enough to get a car and they feel hanging around at the school for hours is not right. When this was brought to the attention of the activities director who was matter of factly agreeing, but no suggestions. They really push kids to join an activity and it's a shame kids without cars are excluded because their family can't afford to provide them with a car.

I visited the campus last week and i came to find out that this school has the vast majority of its students involved in some kind of activity. Unlike Blue Springs there were no students doing any drugs or any bullying by the upperclassmen, in fact the upperclassmen were almost like the same age as the sophomores they all worked together to complete goals and to finish assignments to the highest degree.

BSSHS is not what it is suppose to be. The Anatomy teacher for example ask's the question: 'Define dehydration'. WOW a Dr. called her on this. Their child got it wrong and the dad who is a Dr. called and said, 'WHAT'? This school is extremely lacking in the kids are kids and not adults.

I really think BSSHS is a great school. I mean they have so many things to do. It give you the opportunity to do things that you like to do. I believe that this is a unique school and all students stand out no matter who they are, what they do or where they are from. Everyone is willing to help each other and I'm one of them. Well thanks for giving this opportunity of giving us the opportunity of writing what we think of our school.

I think some of these comments are a little out of line. I belive our school has a great education, and the teachers pay attention to the students... even the ones who are not male or play on the football team. I believe we all believe in our sports to get other kids involved so they arent out doing drugs or having sex. I would reccomend this school to everyone!
