NHS students and staff are some of the most giving people I have ever met. They rally around each other in times of sickness and great need, raising funds for medical bills and collecting food, supplies, and clothes for those inside and beyond community boundaries. Teens will be teens. Teachers will get tired. But the generosity of this education community is inspiring.
This school is horrible! On more than one occasion the teachers touch or verbally down talk children. When confronted they admitted to this and were not punished. Teachers curse. Scream in your children's face with no concerns. Teachers will cover for eachother. Your children are bullied by other kids as well as staff.
Love this school and the district. We should all try to offer more support to our schools to fix what is wrong, rather than just complain about it. It is a shame more businesses don't move out to the area to help with our tax base. Many thanks to Subway for stepping up!!
You know, I have gone to Northwest my entire life and I love the school. It has its problems, as do other schools, but they aren't bad. We don't have massive clique issues or fighting issues. Yes, you may not be popular or get King and Queen nominations if you aren't well known, but you could be well known if you try. I am an active member of the schools drama club and choir and I love every second of it. Thanks to the choir program at Northwest, I realized I want to be a choir teacher. I love Northwest and am proud to say I am a LION.
This school is horrible. The administration is horrible. They don't do anything to the problem children there and harass the good children who are there to learn. They currently have an issue that should have been brought to the attention of the parents and we had to hear it from our children but yet they call us for every other little petty thing when they want us to attend something for them to raise money. They need new adminstration.
My kids will never go here again. Disgusting school; Its dirty & it smells like something has died in the Red Hall. Principals dont do their job.
I went to NHS. I wasn't involved in ANY sports. I wasn't involved in ANY clubs. I WILL send both of my children to NHS & bought a house in the district because it was that important to me. When I was in high school my mother was a single parent- so financial stability had nothing to do with my success there. I learned a lot while I was there, I broke a ton of rules, & you know what? I had a BLAST! Reading the student reviews is hilarious. It doesn't matter who u r, when ur in high school, u hate it. When ur a graduate u look back on it fondly. These are some of the best days of ur lives, you'll see. :)
This school is HORRIBLE! I would strongly suggest if your thinking of moving here, reconsider.
I have transferred here for High School and all I have seen are cliques. If you don't have money or aren't involved in sports, the big stuff won't happen. Like nominations for queen/king at dances, or winning competitions like NHS IDOL! or Poetry Out Loud. Popularity is all that counts. If you have money, I recommend you send your kid here, they will have a blast. But if you're a financially unstable person, your kid will go through heck.
First off, if you are thinking of sending your child to northwest or moving to the district. Don't. Seriously, if you want real reviews go talk to the students of the school who aren't involved in sports. Then you will get the real picture. This school is all about its sports and its cheerleaders/pep clubs. They discriminate in punishment when it comes to them. The other clubs get no funding, nor do the teachers. The teachers there don't care, and neither do the principals. At one point when i was being harrassed in a class, I went to get it changed and they denied my request. I even went to the principal with my mother to get it figured out and she told me that 'my schedule worked', only students whose didn't got changed. Um, excuse me- but plenty of children i know changed just because they didn't like the class.
Well its an ok school that gets rid of all the good teachers that actually care for the Students education. And they are pretty one sided for who gets into trouble. Like if a kid that wasnt in sports they would get kicked out way before a jock would... and to may teachers pets!!!!!!
I have went to Northwest for 2 years for my freshman and sophmore year... I loved it!!! It is one of the best school ever!!! I have went to Parkway school district and Blytheville AR, School district and these two high schools are nothing compared to northwest! Northwest has really good teachers, everyones involved, and the supervisers are there to help the children succeed! Im now and senior and actually go back to graduate from there cause I loved it soooo much!!! It is the Number one school!
From all my experiences in other school environments, Northwest stands out as a place where the school is the people, not the building. Administration has been continually involved in budding avenues of professional development and encouraging students to become involved. There will always be a fair share of flaws as with any institution, but there is also something for everyone here--whether a teacher, parent, or especially student. Students will find a real heart here, a place for academic and social experiences that will build a solid foundation for future success.
Three daughters have gone through this school and the teachers, coaches, secretaries, & principals have gone above and beyond to work with us on any issue that came up. A lot of young, energetic staff that treat the students with respect and give them every opportunity to succeed. Like any school, you and your child have to become involved to gain all the benefits. Awesome and dedicated to continually improving!!
I was a student in the R1 district for some many years and thought admittedly there are some problems i think that the teachers and principals do everything that they can to ensure a safe environment to learn in, however they can only do so much as a student if had to get in to a fight that it wouldn t matter to them who started it but both would get in trouble though the school dose kinda look like a prison lol
northwest is the best school i ever went to!!! the teachers are so willing to help the students and it's a great learning enviornment!!! the staff at northwest is the reason i finished high school!!!
Im a sophmore at Northwest I love it because all the teachers are really caring. I wanted to say thank you for being there all the students. To my teachers had last year an extra thanks because while my brother were over seas my teacher were they for me to talk too. Thanks
Iam a freshmen at Northwest High School and Iam new to the district. I came to the school not knowing any one and all the students and all the teachers made me feel really comfortable with all my surroundings -Jen go 09
I've been involved in this school for 8 yrs.now, and I think the highschool is way too crowed. I haven't had any problems with the teachers but for the principals, they dont seem to be very involved, and they dont take bullying very serious. I have a teen that attends here, but if I could afford it,I would send my child to a private school.
This school is socially acceptable for everyone. You have a broad choice of classes and activties in this school. Northwest offers many musical choices also. Some such as marching band, choir many types and many types of band. This school all in all is a great school.
