Heritage is an academically challenging school that takes a strong work ethic to do well in. Ask any graduate of heritage and they will tell you college is easy compared to heritage. That is one of the great things about it, it prepares the students for college like no other school could because it is modeled off of a typical university system. The teachers are well rounded and know what they are talking about. One commenter described them as being one sided, well, duh, it is a Christian school. All last year the theme for the school year was developing a Christian world view. Every subject is taught through a conservative Christian world view. All around It is a wonderful school that I as a student am a proud part of.
I was a student there for 3 years. I will list the strengths and weaknesses Strengths: Kids are nice and friendly, recess during lunch (in high school), each student gets a slideshow during graduation, small graduating class, a good christian school, a great sense of community, 75% of the kids play sports. Weaknesses: No wifi, no smartboards or laptops with wifi etc, not a lot classes for students to choose from, homework can be difficult, no IEP benefits, not a good school for visual learners, a lot of homework, you have to academically motivated, D is a failing grade instead of an F, a dress code, no cellphones allowed, teachers sometimes give 1-sided opinions relating to politics to religion, lack of diversity among students. If you're a christian looking to put your kid in a christian private school that is also academically challenging, then this is the school for you. If your kid has learning problems (like I did) then this school may be more difficult. You can do what many kids do at the school and what I did, go to a public school part time and take a class or two at Heritage
My family LOVES Heritage Academy. It is a perfect partnership between school and families. With our busy schedules we value the extra two days at home together. With the high academic standards and University Model schedule, I know my student will be ready for college.
This is a fabulous Christian school! It's university model and classes are only in session 2 or 3 days a week, depending on the age of the student, so it is not for everyone. But, we find Heritage to be academically challenging, the teachers love the kids and the kids are respectful. All of these ingredients fosters a wonderful learning environment.
