I went there from k-3 and i must say some of my bet days were spent there.im a senior now and i go to school in PA but i would gladly go back to school there if i could. ~Kathrine
I do not believe this school is good for special needs children. I have been trying to get an IEP done for my daughter for 3 years. I have even signed the paper work to have this done. Every time I call or ask I have to talk to some one else or they tell me they don't do IEPs. Then what did I sign. The staff does not communicate well with each other. I have been to the counselors office to talk with them and the principal. They didn't listen every well and they skimmed over paper work like they were actually reading it. Shaking there heads like they understood it. I am very unsatisfied with this school.
This is a very good school,so far. My daughter just started going here in 6th grade. Her home room teacher is mr.g and hes the greatest.
This school needs a-lot of changes . I'm not satisfied about teachers and the policy of days missing due to illness!!!!! This is not a very {good} school :(
I really appreciate the teaching staff at this school especially the Coaches, Mr A and Mr D, those guys are great. My son talks about them all the time. its nice to have men at a Elementary school.
My son went to this school in the 1st grade, I didn't think the staff in the office was very friendly at all, they seemed very cranky, and rude everytime I called or went into the office, they also didn't pass on info to my son's teacher when I would call in. The principal on the other hand was very nice, helpful and friendly. And, although my son's teacher wasn't very friendly, she apparently taught him very well because he's a very smart boy, so I guess they're doing something right. So, if you can get pass the rude ladies in the office, it's an ok school.
My two kids are doing great in this school and love it. Excellent teachers and an all around good school.
The quality of education that my child is receiving at Athena is outstanding! The teachers, administrators, and staff not only care about the quality of education the students receive, but also the students themselves.
I think the regular education teachers for the most part are good teachers. They seem to really care about the kids but sometimes do not want to go the extra mile for them. I think the special education teachers are not trained as they should be. It seems there is alot of confusion and conflict in the special education department at this school. I think all children are entitled to recieve FAPE. The assistant principle at this school seems to really care about the kids and thier education.
Although it is a very small school with limited resources, I feel my child is receiving a good education. The teachers really do seem to care, but I don't feel they are trained properly in the area of special needs students. I often feel the IEP is not being followed. Overall I'd give this school a good grade, but needs improvement.
