Rockwood South Middle School

Teachers are not the best, they allow kids to goof off, dont teach the lessons well and have class sizes of 32 kids. The classes are not very challenging, even if you are in the highest classes. The principals and other staff members dont seem to care very much about if students are actually understanding/caring about the subjects and also is they are behaving properly. I am in 7th grade right now, and currently trying to get into a private highschool so i am not stuck in rockwoods "excellent" education process.

RSMS really cares about the children and their families, it is a wonderful community

My daughtere is in 6th grade and we could not be happier. Excellent teachers, excellent after school activities and sports programs and excellent challenge classes. Coming from Kellison we had very high expectations and we are completely satisfied. My daughter has made many wonderful new friends.

I think rockwood south is AHHH-MAAZZINNGGG!!!! All the teachers are super cool and they actually make you want to do your homework!!! The rest of the staff are pretty cool too. I go there right now (i'm a 7th grader) and i wouldnt go to any other school. As for the costodial staff, they are so down to earth, some of them even crack jokes with us!!! It's really cool 'cause right now I'm in Compacted Challenge Language Arts and my teacher is unbelievable. She will really get down on if you don't have your homework. (but you really should have had it down on time) She is an super super super cool teacher. In the mornings before class starts she'll actually have a conversation with you about... i dont know, say the super bowl!!! Rockwood south, c'est magnifique!!! (french) Rockwood South ist gat!!! It is obvious that when dealing with a diverse population, as we do at Rockwood South, not everyone will be happy all the time. But, as a teacher and a parent, I can say that the administrators, counselors, teachers, and even the custodial staff are so child focused. They do everything possible to give these students the very best. From the technology, the special education staff, the classroom teachers, and all others, this is a fantastic school. If a parent has a problem, all they have to do is discuss with the teachers, counselors, and/or administrators and they will develop a plan that best fits the individual student. Each student has individual needs, and the staff at Rockwood South is very capable of providing top quality eduational opportunities to each and every student.

Rockwood South is a fine school if your child fits the 'norm'. If your child needs any extra support they are very reluctant to offer solutions. The counseling staff are inadequate regarding mental health issues and the team work involved when a child/teen has different needs. they are very quick to place labels and try to distance themselves from dealing with or helping parents problem solve and are neglegent in educating themselves on current mental health issues of our youth. They also tendto turn the other way regarding the behavior of the children being bused into the schools and the ones living in te area. This is noticed and discussed amoung students and builds a distrust of the teachers and staff that are their to protect their needs. This is only an opinion regarding Rockwood South Middle school. I have heard from other parents, doctors, caseworkers that this is only them.

RSMS is one of the greatest schools I have ever had the priviledge to work in. Having moved away from MO, I can say that they are truly amazing. They offer great programs for all levels of learning, the teachers, staff and administrators are very educated and communicate very well with community. This is definitely a good move if you are considering this school district!

Never have I seen a school ran so poorly. Our involvement was a every day ordeal. Dealing with that school was pure hell. We could write a book,if i could give the school a grade it would be a Z because F would be to high.
