Our school has the greatest students & teachers they are accomplishing the most amazing things.
As a student at hhs i would say that its is an ordinary suburban town high school most of the kids there are smart and i guess some of the teachers think everyone is smart and don't give kids some of the help that they need
As a graduate from HHS a year ago and a current college student, I find that I was well prepared for my college studies, at a top university in the state. My advanced college prep course work in high school has made college easy for me. My english teacher at hhs prepared so well that I was constantly helping other students in my college english classes and the same occured with my biology and chemistry classes. I can see where some students feel as though they weren't well prepared by their high school teachers because they most likely didnt challenge themselves in high school and did not take the advanced AP courses that were offered in many subjects at HHS.
Great teachers, always willing to help students above and beyond what is needed. Students achieve well beyond rural counterparts.
Yes Harrisonville High school is a place where the principle knows you by your first name and you can pretty much be yourself, but being a student from there and graduating I think the teaching was bad. Going to college right after High School I was pretty much shocked when going to college and realizing how not good my writing skills were. English was my best class in High School and in College I really had to focus more and work a lot harder in English in College. Im not saying that this is a bad school. They should just change there teaching skills a lot.
I have been disappointed with the principal who has a control issue and has added unecessary disciplinary actions to trivial matters. Moreover, the quality of education that some of the teachers offers is pitiful and inexcusable. I'm not sure where they get some of them but they act like they don't like teaching or kids or both. It's disappointing because some really great kids with awesome potential are being overlooked and not encouraged to keep reaching for their best. This school says it's a 4A but I would rate it a 1A. My kids attend here as I also did and it wasn't any better then.
The quality of this program left a lot to be desired. Although I thought I was getting a great education at the time, my first semester in college proved me wrong. I was ill-prepared for the expectations of college, despite having been on the college preparatory track. I didn't have any study skills, self-advocacy skills, or writing skills ... all of which I should have learned in high school.
Harrisonville High School is a great school, it has a great feel to it and allows students to be themselves. I know as a Sophmore at HHS that it is easy to get lost in the crowd but here at the high school teachers know who you are and above all the principal knows you by your first name! I couldn't ask for a better school!
