This school cares more about athletics than academics. Alcohol and drug abuse is quite tolerated here. Many of the teacher don't know how to teach, and many have quit/retired, with no replacements being properly found.
Hermann High School is a great school. It is very safe and students receive an excellent education. My high school education, received at HHS, served me very well for college and my adult life. I do not feel deprived of a rich education, like some of my friends. The teachers at Hermann High School care very much about educating the students. In addition, the sports teams are among the best in the state. Hermann has very good coaches that build character and discipline in the athletes.
While the Hermann School District is a great place for a child to go to school, the discipline is elementary, and the students are not properly prepared for college circumstances. Some teachers don't hold professional relationships with students, while they teach the criteria well, they tend to involve themselves in the studnets personal affairs perhaps more than necessary. Students aren't give the opporunity to learn self control given some classroom policies such as reiceving a tardy for using the restroom. Tactics such as those do not prepare the student for college.
Hermann is a great school. It is not too big and it is not too small. The major extracurricular activities include: basketball(girls and boys), volleyball, football, baseball/softball, and track. We are working on improving our already high MAP and ACT scores. Overall, Hermann is a great school to go to.
