We are seriously disappointed in Brennan Woods Elementary. While the staff is usually helpful, there is a serious lack of focus when it comes to education. Our daughter has been struggling in math and, after looking at the school's test scores, I see why. We were originally impressed by their Blue Ribbon School award, but after researching what it actually means, I wish we had done our research before enrolling. We are currently looking to move to another district.

Discipline is number 1 here. Students learn early about self control and self discipline. From day one, students are taught in a way that is complementary towards the various state and national testing. Kids understand the tests and are confident when they take them, which makes it a positive experience for them and the school. One principal at another school (higher grade) commented that he could always tell the Brennan kids when they came over. They were well behaved, and consistantly had better test scores. This is a nationally recognized school, with a great staff and a healthy volunteer base. My only issue with this school is the use of videos for reward for everything. I would love to see them go retro and do the old-tyme math skill drills, or spelling contests on rainy days. There is too much emphasis on movies and cable in the class.

My child attended a private Christian school up until she was in 1st grade. Her first grade teacher was going to hold her back but they worked w/us and by the end of that year she was well on her way of being ahead of her peers. I just want to say 'Thank-you' to the staff for their continued level of commitment to our children's education.
