I am a volunteer at Highlandville Elementary School and have been involved in that capacity for five years. I really enjoy the time I spend with the children and I seem to add classes at rate of one a year! The kids are bright and eager to learn and I am eager to help them do just that. Some of the kids don't have all the advantages of children in more economically-advantaged school systems, but the teachers are wonderful at making do with the resources they have. There is a great percentage of parental involvement as well. (I would love to see an updated computer lab and a more extensive library.) I believe each classroom has a smart board - what an incredible, interactive learning tool! Hats off to the great teachers and other volunteers! Great school with LOTS of personal attention given to each student.
My daughter is in 2nd grade now going on to third grade. She just turned 8 years old. She was kidnapped by a man who is pretending to be her father and he is not. Someone please contact me if you have any information for my little girl. She has two siblings at home who she has never met because of this man. This man is keeping her from her entire maternal family. Please help... the man who has her is named Jeremy Jaques.
I have a daughter in Pre-K and a daughter in Kindergarten. They get picked up from our front door by the school bus and taken to school. My Pre-K is half time, so I pick her up at 11, while my kindergartner rides the bus back home. My children adore their school and activities. I am not in contact with the Kindergarten teacher like I am the Pre-K teacher. Her name is Mrs. W and is a blessing to my child. She is so down to earth and teaches at a level that all the kids can learn together and with fun! The Kindergarten teacher has taught my daughter tons of things that she brags about when she gets home. She is eager and anxious to show us, and we adore her commitment to do well and make friends. I highly recommend this school for their inter activeness and concern for the student. This is my first time send my kids to school, and I search for a good one. This is the best!
We love our school because of the small class sizes. My first grader has 15 other kids in his class. The teachers are wonderful and know almost everyone by name. The principal is always in the hall interacting with children and parents and she is even the head coach of one of our Mighty Mites teams. Being a small town, Highlandville does not have the tax base of the larger surrounding towns, but our kids have some of the most caring, dedicated teachers around!
I am a very impressed with the caring encouragement my special needs child gets at this school. He has made get advancements in his level of learning and tolerance.
My son was a new 5th grader this year. The teacher and the school has done an amazing job sparking interest in reading. My son even asked for books for Christmas!! He has always been a run, jump and play outside kid. So to sit still and read 200 page books is a feat. And he enjoys them!!! Thank you. Reading is a great way to become proficient in other areas and not even know you are learning!!
This is our first year at Highlandville and we are very impressed! Such a caring, nurturing, growing, academic environment for our son.
