I used to teach in a private high school. I am very impressed with the quality of my coworkers. Their attitude, the kids and the parents attitudes make this a school a success story. I always enjoy seeing the parents. Communication is our biggest asset. Last year we had the largest influx of non-native speakers. I can appreciate the struggles they went through to learn, and I admire their achievements.
I'm so lucky my kid goes to University Academy wouldnt change a thing. Great security I feel safe having my child at University Academy he has learned so much great communication with the teachers.
I would not recommend this school to anyone. The faculty often shows favoritism towards certain students. The faculty also gets involved in the personal life's of children and that is not what they are there to do. I think this school needs make sure the faculty is acting as a faculty instead of instigators. One good thing about this school is it's academicaly challenging. That is the only plus.
We have been extremely pleased with the education that our children have received at University Academy. If parents are looking for an opportunity for a great academic education, a social education and unique opportunities provided by the board, then UA is a perfect fit. The Board is completely supportive of the students and provide above and beyond so that no one goes without. The atmosphere continues to improve and pursuit of excellence is the goal. The staff are highly educated and enthusiastic in their area of expertise. We have only positive things to say about University Academy. If someone is looking for a "perfect" school, it doesn't exist. The positives outway the negatives at UA.
this is a great school. the staff are dedicated for the students to succeed.they stress success in all areas and prepare the students for college. there has been a positive change in leadership which I feel will not abandom the students as the previous superendent and pricipal did.
This is a great school. Students and parents who think otherwise, often are not willing to adjust to the advanced curriculm. Students are complaining because of the intense work schedule and parents are unhappy because their children are failing. So the solution is to thatt they take the kids out the school and say that the school is not good. But I differ . You either have to GO HARD or GO HOME !!!
If you want pretty, then this is the school for you. I took my child out of the school before she was totally turned off by going to school. We loved the schoolwork but could not handle the behavioral problems of the students and the lack of concern from the staff. I was afraid for my child every day to the point of taking my lunch and going to the school for an unscheduled visit. I have not heard any good things from parents since we left. I made a good move!
University Academy is a public charter school not a private school as the description suggests. If you want to see a beautiful campus and top-notch facilities this is it. however no amount of money seems to be able to convince parents from the immediate neighborhood to enroll their children. We opted to give it a chance but very quickly are trying to backtrack and find an alternative. We have been less than impressed. The school seems to have attracted some good teachers but the admin. has been unorganized and less than helpful. The behavior issues are MANY!!!!! We are now trying to place our son somewhere else before he is so turned off by school that it wont matter where he goes.
The school is not as well run as it appears. There are dedicated teachers to be certain, but they are in the minority. I'm looking forward to transferring my children to another school now that we've moved out of the area.
I think UA is a great school where kids can learn and have fun while doing it
My husband and I love the lower school and can't wait until our youngest child is able to go. There are a lot of programs for the parents, unfortuantely there is not a lot of parent involvement. They offer the Wellness Center and it is very nice. The school is beautiful and the teachers I have been in contact with are eager to help the students succeed. My only complaint is the lack of communication from the Administration to the parents. It's slowly getting better, but still needs improvement.
This school has an excellent upper school staff. The administration is not the strongest but is improving. There is very little parent involvment and it makes the teachers job harder. It is difficult for any teacher to work in a urban school. As far as urban schools go, this school is doing a pretty good job.
This school though it may have a very professional appearance is poorly run. The administration is unorganized and it seems half the time the teachers don't know what's going on. We will be removing our children from this school asap.
