It's a great school if your child is average or above. Special needs teens and parents are discouraged from 504's and IEP's. Some organizational leaders are really organized and know how to encourage parents to get involved. Others are challenged to delegate, so you have no idea what is needed for an event. There is a lot of 'family' tied into the staff (husband & wife) and student body (parent teacher & student). Most of the teachers have Missouri college educations. Few are from out of state or country. The schools in MO are not state funded, so not every school is academically the same. Liberty is considered a good school in the state, but is not US News represented in the best high schools ranking. If the school benchmarked successful special needs programs and volunteer programs that really DO work, along with having key personal to help high ranking programs, like AP classes, continue to build, I think Liberty HS could be a great model for other schools to follow.
Super Schools! With my kids' all in three different buildings no complaints. Home town is great. Community is awesome.
I've been to a number of schools over the years and Liberty is easily the best district I've lived in. However, Liberty has some work to do. As a gifted/honor student, I've had excellent teachers and a (relatively) challenging curriculum. I've found that this isn't the case for most students. Students taking the usual courses aren't given the attention they deserve and are asked to meet very low expectations. So while my experience has been excellent, Liberty has a lot of work to do if it wants to excel across the board.
We relocated here a major adjustment. My five kids have been in four different school districts, Liberty being the fourth. One of my children has attended three different high schools, he is a special needs child. Liberty high school has taken him under their wings and he is doing better than he has in 8 yrs in school. I have two in the LJH and they love it! and one of which completely failed math for 2 yrs straight before coming here last year and now he is doing great A's & B's and fully is interested in math again. I have another that has attended 2 of the elementary schools due to the boundary changes and loves them both! My kids suffered in past schools, they have seen what bad schools are regretfully. Now their future is brighter thanks to the great school system they enjoy! thank u Liberty Schools!
My view is that as school proceeds the teacher's get even gripier as they go--they always put on a good show--but reluctant to help the working students who have to pay their own car insurance due to no father in the home
I have one child attending LHS, and another that is now in college. We have moved several times, and LHS and the Liberty school system are the best we've encountered, with numerous awards in academics, art, and athletics. My kids are excelling, and I believe LHS is a significant part of their success.
Being a family that has had to re locate several times (5) through out my son's education, we have seen good school as well as terrible schools. Our transfer to Liberty was our last and final move. What a blessing it has been. The Liberty schools are with out a doubt, the finest we have incountered. Our children were behind upon our arrivial to Liberty. Our oldest spent 2 years at Liberty High and not only cought up in his studies, but excelled to the point where he acheived a schorship for college upon his graduation at Liberty High. My youngest has been the challange for his teachers due to his lacking skills in the basic studies. He is graduation on time and is expected to graduate with a 3.2 gpa. He came here with a 1.7 gpa. I am conveinced that this is due to the superior quality of the Liberty Schools and their staff. I am so greatfull and impressed with this school district. On a scale of 1 thru 5, I rate the Liberty school with a 5. Please excuse my spelling. Perhaps I should have attended Liberty.
