This school has no parent/school technology system to keep you informed of your child's progress. When I attempted to communicate with teachers to discuss my child's academic progress, I received little response from one teacher, less response from two others and no response from the rest. I have been very disappointed in this schools lack of vision to incorporate very simple technology that even smaller schools use in order to enhance a parents ability to 'work with the schools' to improve the students education experience.

The quality of this school is superb. Since it's in a small town, the crime rate is way below what other towns have. Everyone that works in the school district is really friendly, and they all really try their best to help each student do their best, no matter what that class may be. The principals are all extremely involved in the way the school runs, and are willing to talk about anything. The students themselves are great, with giving extremely high MAP scores for years at a time. Great things happen at Mt. Vernon schools, and great leaders come out of it. I would definitely tell someone to enroll their children here. I can't think of going anywhere else!!!

The school's great! All the staff and teachers do a great job of keeping the kids motovated and doing their best. Class sizes are good. Mount Vernon has some awsome programs going on, not only sports, but others like the Band, Chior, Drama, Art, ect.,. The Ag program is really someting to be proud of. They also offer a lot of Dual Credit College classes through SMS, like College Chem, College Conservation, College English, and College Biology. They are great at puting your kids in classes that will help them excel the most, wheather that'd be a Pre Calc or Advanced English, or Tech Math or Mythology.
