This is my child's first year at Rolla Middle School. We were worried that going to a school where all the kids from 3 different elementary schools are in 1 building for the first time. However, my child's teacher has been a dream. She has created a warm, inviting, safe harbor for my child's first year in the middle school. However, the principal is another story. She is cold and inaccessible. My child didn't even know the head principal's name. She was astonished to find out that one of the assistant principals wasn't the head. We went to the school website so my daughter could see a picture of the principal. She said she had seen her a couple of times around the building - mostly the cafeteria, but she had no idea that she was the principal. I have not heard many parents speak well of her either.
I am a mother of two childen and one goes to school here in Rolla and my other goes to a school in Columbia, MO. It is this way because her father thinks that the school's in Columbia are better! All I can say is I do not think so, my son has been in the Rolla School's for about 4 years and he has become a much better reader stronger speller and is a A-B+ from D and C+. He is so much happyer and he fills great about his self. Is that not the way it should be.?
2006, My daughter have been attending Rolla Middle School, and we have had a wonderful experience with the staff, we relocated from another town and we are Africian American and she gets respect from the staff. I am glad we came here.
My daughter has attended Rolla Middle school for three years now and she loves it. The teachers are great and I think the people are friendly and helpful. We moved here from out of area and have had no problems.
My daughter has attended Rolla Middle School for 3 years now and loves it. She is in several after school programs and I think the school administration does a great job. It is difficult to manage kids nowadays, but the teachers and faculty do a good job on keeping tabs on things and watching out for the kids. I am also from out of state and have been welcomed everytime I walk into the office or the halls. I would definitely recommend this school.
We are the parents of 3 children who attend the Rolla Public Schools. Our experiences at Truman Elementary were wonderful. However, we are not at all impressed with the Rolla Middle School staff or faculty. RMS is full of some of the most hateful, arrogant, unprofessional, uncooperative adults that we've ever encountered. You can walk down the hall on most any day and not find one adult who will even smile at the kids or you. Our oldest moves on to Jr. High next year. Hopefully, things are better there.
I'm a seventh grader at Rolla Middle School and also the student forum president at RMS. RMS is a great school. All the teachers are very nice and you learn a lot of valuable things. The teachers make it a great learning experience for all of the students that attend. The Rolla Middle School has a lot of fun after school clubs and activities too. Some of these clubs are math club, science club, wellness club, and art smart. Rolla Middle School is a great School for any child in the 5th, 6th, or 7th grade to attend.
We have been both disappointed and happy with aspects of this school. Our children have had some excellent teachers. However, the administration has been very disappointing. Rolla is a town of 'haves' and 'have-nots' and 'old townies vs new townies.' Townspeople here openly admit and in fact thrive on this idea. The school administration perpetuates and in its actions, promotes this concept. A recent example of this is the bus trip to Washington D.C. The fee is over $1000 for just a few days. If you look at the roster of the kids that are going it is a list of Who's Who's kids in Rolla. Our family has a upper middle income and could have afforded to send our child, but the message was loud and clear as to who was welcome, we are not 'old town.' Many good teachers are transferring from the school and that is also disappointing.
