This is one of the worst schools in Missouri. Poverty/depressed low income area with a school that ranks in the lower 1/3rd of all schools in the state. Poor quality of teachers, many of whom are teaching subjects and areas in which they are not certified. Not reccommended. Trend over the last 5 years has been getting worse.
I went to this school my whole if i hated it when i was there but after i got out i have learned that that school was the best thing for me, i currently live in Kansas City and i see people my age, the way they dress, talk and even carry themselves, and im glad that i came from where i did come from, Slater Schools tought me alot on what and what not to do, and i say thanks for that, this is a great school and i only wish that i could raise my kids there, so that i can kno they are getting a good education, So when people ask me where im from i smile and Say Slater Missour, ' knowing that they are going to ask wheres that?'lol but i will be glad to explain!
I would not recommend this school. This school is very political on who succeeds and who does not. Everything about this town depends on who you are. We quickly noticed that the same children are chosen to be on the same sports teams, in school plays, programs, you name it! Same parents run the show as well here, be it in education, and extracurricular activities. There have been a select few teachers who had been awesome, caring and would give up home time to stay with students after school to tutor them. The majority of teachers here seem to think they are running a Military Academy. But, again the Military Academy still is not so bad for those select few students who have the parents running the show in this town.
Slater school is awesome!!! I like it here we learn what we are supposed to, and everyone gets along great. Not only that but if your child needs help in his/her education than the teachers will help them one on one just ask. The teachers are here for us and to further us in our education. I woul dhighly recommend that if you are thinking about moving to a small town come here! It is a great schoool!!
Slater School district is great for us students! We learn what we are supposed to an the teachers for the most part are polite and understanding. I would definatly recomend Slater High School for your children.
I think the Slater School system is a very good system. The small classrooms add a lot the the schools small town values. They have very good teachers that are there for you if you need the little extra help, just ask.
I am I high school student at Slater High. These four years are supposed to be the best of my life, I feel as if they are the worst. The 'Teachers' of this school don't take the time to listen to us, as students. These 'Teachers' are very disrespectful to the students. I have had very good learning at home by my mother, and father. As a student I come to learn, not to be treated as an elementary child.
I am a parent ,and having a small school has is benefits, but it also has it's downfalls. The political side of the school is terrible, due to a small town. The athletic department needs change and has needed change for several years now. There has been a lot of happenings that have been swept under the table and ignored. The parents of this community should have more of a roll in the education and guidance the teachers have for their children. School years are supposed to be the best years of your life. There are problems in this school that need to be addressed. I think college prep needs more focus at this school. I feel like my children got the education they needed, but needed more college entry help.
I have had 3 daughters go to Slater High School, the politics of the coaching is to be desired. My experience with the school the schoolwork isn't as bad but I still would not recomend sending your children to this school.
I have two kids who have graduated from the Slater School system as have my husband and myself. We have nothing but the utmost respect for the quality of education our family has received from the school. And are proud to have the kind of school system we have.
