This is, hands down, the worst school my son ever attended. Teacher Dody McDaniel (1st grade) constantly ridiculed him for being gifted. The principal (Thornsberry) left his last job after problems with the ACLU. The whole school had massive problems.

McGregor has a very nice new school building but the staff needs renovated as well... Children are not recieving appropriate discipline, and some are so out of control they are endangering other students. Parent envolvement can't be the only issue because this school requires everyone to sign a parent commitment letter. They should be signing the commitment letters!

McGregor Elementary is a school filled with caring individuals with little to no resources available to them. The teachers are stressed out, the students are stressed out. Even the janitorial staff is stressed out. It is really too bad because it could be a wonderful school, but there is so little parent and/or community involvement. My child went there for one year and I got him out of there and into another neighborhood school where he has thrived and the teachers are not so stressed out that they freak out over every small event.
