Profile Completeness

BASIC

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

This place is ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC and HORRIBLE! After dealing with "Executive Director and principal", I would NEVER send my children here! Collectively, these two are incapable of running a school and it's a wonder they have jobs as they are poor communicator's, and good luck with trying to get any issues resolved that you or your child(ren) may have as ABSOLUTELY NOTHING happens when dealing with these two! I was lucky to get a phone call back from "the Exe Dir" as the principal NEVER bothered! There is a STRONG LACK of support on both their parts and neither will do more than is required! The "Exec Dir" FAILS HORRIBLY in improving the overall quality of the school and brings absolutely NOTHING to the table! It's as if they're both there collecting paychecks. Period. Do yourself a favor and consider OTHER charter schools as you will be doing your child(ren) a HUGE DISSERVICE by sending them here! We chose Premier Charter School and could not be happier with the decision we made to move on!

Good luck to anyone thinking of attending this horrible school. The principle is the main issue here. At least 5 teachers have quit this year. The administration does not know how to deal with the student or parents that have complaints and issues. They seem to think it is exceptable to allow bullying to go on, theft of students personal items to continue to happen and cant hired teachers that are educated enough to not make multiple errors on homework assignments. These are teachers there work should be flawless and have 0 mistakes. In the county schools any incident that happens in there schools that involve police are reported to parent via a letter explaining the incident even if its not detailed and they dont need to disclose any HIPPA related material to do so. I work for an insurane company I am well aware of HIPPA laws. And since the principle and this parent just love to suggest to go some were else, I will. I'm moving to the county to a real school district, Lindbergh, were my children can get a real education and the staff actually cares about them. Good luck with with this school or any other city school because they are staffed with racists and degenerates!

I am reading some negative reviews on here but normally people do not post in less they are upset about something. To be very honest with you if you are considering this school for your child it is a better alternative to the surrounding district. We sent our son because of the state SLPS and we could not find a privet school that was not religiously affiliated in the area. So far this school has been great. We have had no issues. Our son is preforming on grade level and has never had a staff member act in a disrespectful or inappropriate manner. The PTO could be stronger but the woman running it seems a little busy. They do have family events like movie night, grandparents day, etc. and people show up! The ones complaining are more then welcome send their kids to Slps or move to the county if they are so upset. As for the police being called it's called HIPPA you can not disclose information about a minor to someone who is not their parent. Be happy they stay in the guide lines. I am sure that you would not want someone knowing personal things about your child. If it was something major they legally would have had to let you know.

The administration of this school is unprofessional and has no idea how to inspire the leadership they are supposed to be teaching. The current principle is not someone you want directing your child's education. Great teachers but poor leadership. I would look elsewhere.

My son has attended Carondelet Leadership Academy since its opening 4 years ago. The teachers that he has had are excellent in quality. They have taken the time to nurture him to the best student he can be. Ms. Apryll Mendez has been an extraordinary principal since changing hands. My son has a medical condition that makes learning a little more difficult for him. Ms. Mendez has always made sure that she checks on him and encourages him when he is down. The school is such a tight community of excellent educators and excellent students.

The staff at this school should really be ashamed at themselves for the amount of gossip they do. Be thankful you are not involved, even though that statement is a true shame. PTO needs to be fully revised.

This school was good at the beginning (and there is still some great staff) but there has been a lot of teacher turnover and the leadership has deteriorated (teacher turnover likely related to leadership deterioration). There has also been a lot of student turnover. It's a step up from city schools but at times not by much. I've encountered far better leadership at one of the worst city schools. Look elsewhere...

This school is a prayer answered. My son came from STL City Public Schools which were a complete nightmare. All the staff at CLA have a geniune care for the children's well being and education. My son receives special ed services and the staff is wonderful. I highly recommend this school to any and everyone!!
