HONOR ROLL

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I am amazed and feel beyond blessed for my children to attend this school. The class sizes are small and the attention they receive is outstanding. They have grown and learned so much since they have started attending. I am amazed and feel like their time away from home is well spent.

Child of God Lutheran Church and School has undergone a plethora of changes since the attendance of my family...all positive. The Principal & Pastor are the backbone of the school and church respectively and the Word of God is the basis of learning. I am blessed to have found this church and my kids will attend starting next year.

I love COG! I have been here for 7 years and the last 2 years have been the most amazing! We have a fabulous principal, pastor, and teaching staff; we offer assistance with tuition & special needs. The students and parents are happy and love the Lord. It is so wonderful to walk down the halls and hear the little children singing praises to our God! Even in after school extended care I hear children singing the songs they have learned in class and chapel - what a BLESSING!! I am so blessed that God called me to work here in this happy atmosphere, where it like an extension of home and my own family!

Child of God is the third Lutheran school I have taught at and it is the school where I have seen first hand, the most commitment and care for every student in the school.. I feel blessed to be a part of this community that has each child's best interest at heart. Not only is their education important, but so are their spiritual lives as well. Everyone in the building from the support staff in the office to the principal and Pastor, has made it their mission to help each child succeed. Staff members work as a team to guide each child on their educational and spiritual journey. We are constantly seeking and learning new innovative ideas to help carry out this purpose. If I had young children, Child of God is the school I would want my children to learn and grow at.

I have been teaching for 5 years now and this is the 3rd school where I have taught. By far I have met some of the most supportive families, educated staff, and Christ-centered curriculum at Child of God. Teaching has been full of joy, laughter, and memories here.

Our children's school merged with another local school last summer. The merge was not a positive environment for our children. Before the merge, we didn't have a reason to consider another private school. Our experience with Child of God has been nothing but positive since we took the tour with the principal last summer. Our biggest concern was the curriculum since our kids came from a school with high standards and a hands-on environment. The curriculum has challenged our kids. We feel our kids are safe everyday. The teachers and staff know our kids by name, and our 5th grader is challenged in his class. Our kindergarterner is advancing well also. The kindergarterner is thriving in math! I feel this school is preparing our children very well for the future. We are very pleased.

We have been at this school for five years now and are really happy here! The classroom sizes are small, which give the kids more individualized attention, which we love. The teachers are phenomenal and plan so many great learning experiences for the kids. The Christ centered education is what we really love though. There is patience, kindness and prayer that is taught every day - these are skills that these children will take with them for life. I would recommend this school to anyone and everyone!

Our family loves Child of God School since it is such a caring environment and has a Christ-centered learning environment. The small class sizes give our children the academic support that they need. The staff is caring and yet offers challenging curriculum.

It is a truly spirited school. So much love for the students! My son enjoys going everyday and his favorite part of the day is morning chapel! Child of Gods pastor is young and fresh! It is a lot of fun! The best part - extended care before and after school is offered!

If you are on the fence between public and private, please visit COG. I have three children here with varying educational needs and all of them are thriving. The small class size allows our teachers to challenge and grow our kids at their pace. Parent involvement is amazing, we have a voice and we are heard. My children may not love homework but they LOVE going to school. One of my favorite things is that my children are spiritually led each and every day. Their behavior in and out of school is a direct reflection of that. I would like to see the sports program grow, too small for us. Overall, a quality education, spiritual growth and community driven, the foundation at COG alone is worth it. Highly recommend a visit.

We love the Child of God Parent's Day Out program. It is great for full-time care for working parents or part-time learning and socialization for stay-at-home kids. We were impressed from the moment we walked in for a tour. Our daughter loves her school and her teachers!

Child of God has a wonderful Christ-centered atmosphere with loving staff. The teacher to student ratio is one of the best in the area. The principal and newly hired Pastor are a blessing to the school.

My family has been a part of Child of God for four years. In that time, we have enjoyed being a part of a wonderful Lutheran school and church. The teachers, and staff truly have the kids' best interest at heart and they care a great deal about educating them in a Christian atmostphere.

The principal doesn't have love in her heart and neither does one of her 2nd and 6 grade teachers my children has been there only three days 2nd grder has some trouble with reading and was kicked out of her school. I set up tutoring five days a week she said no wanted to put her back in first grade. I declined so she put them out. God isnt in that school or in her or some of the teachers. God sees everything you all will reap what you sow im a god fearing woman was raised up in church and can honestly say that god isn't in the mist of that school. I know that race played a part in it my kids felt it and i did too. My family and i have given a lot to the lutheran church but it won't happen again. We will never give to a place that will break down the spirit of a child. My child wasn't given a chance in your school for three days and thrown out. But others given tutoring im sure they have something in common and its not being black. I pray that someday the principal and teachers find god and stop promoting racism in your school.

The teachers and principal show great care and concern for the education and success of our children. The school is immaculate, well organized and offers so much more than the public schools. Our family is very happy with the level of education and extra activities that are offered. We are extremely happy with our choice of schools.

Our family couldn't be more pleased with Child of God and what they have done with our three boys. They love going to school. If you are looking for a school that truly cares about your children, this is the place. It is a wonderful Christian environment with the most wonderful Principal and teachers. We love it here!

We looked at several schools before choosing Child of God for our daughter but we knew when we walked in this was the right place for us. It has been a wonderful place and her teacher is amazing! The academic and religious education exceeded our expectations and my daughter enjoys everyday! I would recommend this school to anyone looking for a Christ centered education for their child.

I am thankful for Child of God Lutheran School, over the years my children's teachers have been consistently caring, patient and prefessional. When one of my children was having trouble reading, his teacher observed his struggle right away and suggested that he get tested. That testing showed that he could benefit from additional help with reading. Because of her careful observation and concern, my child is doing much better in school now.

Let me just say if you want a school which will offer a true quality Christian education along with fun and caring staff, Child of God is the place. My children have grown not only spriritually but also as individuals. I will put the education up against any other school in the area. To respond to the school has fallen on hard times, this is a perception and not true in my opinion. I wish people would offer the facts behind their statements. If you read the communication from the school, two teachers have left because they are going back to school for additional degrees, another teacher took a promotion and another is following her husband as it relates to his call as a Pastor. The school is in search for a new Principal and Pastor but the leadership in place has made sure the school has not skipped a beat. My child came home from school a couple of weeks ago and said "Guess what...we had a food fight at lunch"!!! You heard me, the kids in the lunch room had a food fight and it was started by the staff. Hmmm..quality education, loving staff, growing spiritually and having fun....that's why I send my kids to Child of God.

I have been involved at Child of God Lutheran School for over 10 years. My son graduated from COG and placed in Biology and Geometry as a freshman, even though these are typically sophomore classes. His education at COG allowed him to skip some typical freshman classes. Both my children received an excellent education while attending COG. Their Achievement Test scores were all very high; in some subjects they scored post high school. As far as the teachers leaving, they are continuing their education, following a spouse to where their career has taken them, or are taking a promotion. There is nothing wrong with leaving a job for these reasons. The Interim Principal was just that: Interim-temporary. The school has been working hard to replace the Principal and Pastor on a permanent basis. This task is very close to being complete. The sports program does use volunteers. Volunteers: People who WANT to coach because they have the skill and desire to teach that sport to children. Sometimes the best person for the job is a volunteer! If you want the truth, visit the school many times. You are always welcome at Child of God!

The school has fallen on hard times. They are on their third principal this year and has lost half of their staff due to the lack of leadership. Most of the best teachers have left. There are other options around town.

I'm a student that goes to Child of God. Why I rated it 3 out of 5 is because I do not like the principal, I do not like the quality of the sports teams (they are low budget and need voluteers to do the sports), and I think the education is not challenging enough. I'll come home with only one math lesson with 30 problems and then I'll be done. And I do not like the people, either. I spent the past year and a half being bullied by 2 girls in my class. I hate it so I'll be leaving to Christian High for the 2011-2012 year.

I agree the school is horrible about communication and there were only a few teachers that I think are teaching for the right reasons. If I had the choice to re-do my child's education there..I would not have picked COG.

From the second I set foot in the doors at Child of God, my son and I received such a warm welcome from all of the staff. The office staff, the volunteers, the teachers, even the principal made us feel welcome! This is an amazing school that makes learning about God a priority. My son has done very well in school this year and is far above other kids his age that do not attend Child of God. We have thoroughly enjoyed our years at Child of God and any family would be very fortunate to be a part of the Child of God family!

Child of God Lutheran School in St. Peters, MO is such an intimate, caring place with excellent education. My children love the close attention and that they feel like it is a family at school. The teachers go out of their way to make sure my children have a positive, enriching, challenging and loving school experience. They have assisted so many families who believe in having their children in a Christ-centered school but were struggling to make ends meet by offering tuition assistance even in a time when financial challenges are affecting everyone across the board. Child of God is more than a school, it is a family, they give their all to these kids and believe 100% in what they are doing at this school. We love Child of God!

Out of my twenty plus years of teaching, I have never been among such caring and encouraging teachers as I have been at Child of God Lutheran School. It is o joy and honor to be a part of this faculty! The school provides quality and quantity in educational experiences for children along with a faith foundation! Our principal and pastor reach out to each family with care and concern. Our teachers inspire and motivate! Come for a visit anytime!

We love Child of God! Our son will be going to Kindergarten here and he went to Pre-k at Child of God. Mr. Bryant and Mrs. Rolf are wonderful people and I can't wait to meet his new teacher for this year. I would recommend this school to anyone. We do not attend church here (we are catholic)and they don't treat us any different. Mr. Whitcopp is always at the front door in the morning to greet everyone and yes sometimes he may not smile but don't you think if you had to smile at all the students and parents for 15 mins your face may hurt a bit. Ha! He seems to be a nice man. We have never had any problems with communication either.

I love COG. I don't know what the other two parents are talking about. The principal is super NICE! He's never looked at me like I was an alien. The teachers are great with communication, but you have to COMMUNICATE with them as well. I have a notebook we send back and forth so I know how my son's day went and if he had any difficulties that day. Next year is our third year back and we'll have two children attending! The activities get better every year and the discipline is phenomenal. My child is loved and appreciated even though he may learn differently than other children. I highly recommend COG!

Child of God has been an enriching, energetic, and caring place for our children to learn and grow. Our kids participate in extracurricular activities including dance, gymnastics and Spanish and we look forward to their participation on the athletic teams when they are old enough. Our kids have not only enjoyed their classroom teachers, but speak highly of the art, music and PE teachers as well. As parents, we have been thrilled with all they have learned academically, socially and from a character-building standpoint!

I have several children in this school and can not say enough good things about the school. All of my children are in the lower grades and love it. The school has done more then expected to make sure that the kids are all learning and loved. My children are extremely different and the teachers have treated them wonderfully despite their differences. They do a great job teaching the lesson various ways so all learn despite their learning style.

Please do not be fooled by the mission statement. We sent our child here for 3 years Pre K to 1st and pulled him out in mid-Sept. of 1st grade. The principal's motto is basically 'It's my way or the highway and if you don't like it you know where the door is.' I have never met a principal and who is so narrow-minded that he would rather this school fold than admit they have problems communicating with parents. For 2 years in a row, now my child has been made to feel like he cannot do anything right. The principal and 1st grade teacher talked down to us; disrespecting our concerns and positions as parents . If you don't go to their church you will be treated differently than those that do. Do not make the same mistake we did by sending your child here.

I sent my child here for Pre K and the principal looked at me like I was an alien every time I walked throught the door. I have never met someone so unfriendly in my life. Its been 2 years since my child has gone to this school and I still have a bad taste in my mouth. The teachers their are just ok. The communication between the parents and the school was awful. My child definately didn't learn anything while she attended. The parents are very clickish so if you weren't there from the beginning they won't pay any attention to you. I do not recommend this school especially for the Pre K program
