Before our move to the St. Louis area I searched online and visited many schools to determine where to live. From the beginning I was so impressed with Orchard Farms School. In addition to an organized and clean facility, the focus on quality education and a fun loving environment is obvious. Every member on staff went above and beyond to help my child adjust to the move. I was looking for a school that provided quality education, exceptional teachers, a positive and safe environment for my children, and that's what I got! I would summarize this school as one that provides a small country atmosphere without being a small country school.
My Oldest son goes to OFHS. We are so very impressed with every step we have taken in this district.
My children have both been attending Orchard Farm Elementary since Kindergarten. We love the teachers and the entrie staff is extremely committed to the students, both personally and professionally. OUr children are Romanian adoptees, and therefore had special challenges with certain aspects of learning and behavior. The programs that the school offers to help children who need certain assistance or to understand that not all children learn in the same manner have been invaluable in helping our kids to learn and grow as confident individuals.
This school combines academics, physical education, strong parental involvement, and high expectations for character, courtesy, self-discipline, and independence. The school's teachers present material in creative and engaging ways, and are alert to individual student's talents and abilities. The curriculum shows clear and purposeful direction in academic and personal growth. Students are taught organizational skills and independence in stages appropriate to their age and maturity. I love the sense of community that is present. The PTO is one of the best I have ever seen. They sponsor several activities throughout the year that encourage Family Participation. These events are an opportunity for families to come together, meet others and have fun close to home. The PTO is very supportive of the schools needs to provide opportunities as well as resources and materials for students and classrooms. The Principal and Asst. Principal are excellent! They have promoted many positive programs.
My daughter began kindergarten last month so although we are new to the school we really like it. Everyone is extremely friendly and welcoming. I appreciate programs they have in place for the children's safety- including background checks for any volunteers. The computer lab is excellent and even the kindergartners spend an hour a week learning skills. Many people have commented about the children having PE 4 times a week rather than once like so many other school have had to cut back to. We are excited about the Spanish classes that begin in first grade. The PTO is good and offers many opportunities for both stay at home and working parents.
I was encouraged to move to a bigger school district because my daughter has special needs, however after meeting with the school-I decided to stick with Orchard Farm. I am so happy with the decision we made! I would strongly encourage ANYONE to stay with this school. Everyone has been so wonderful and helpful-and my daughter is doing great! We feel like we owe it to them!
I was very pleased with the quality of this school, my children's teachers, and the friendly community. There was a strong commitment to learning, and a concern for the specific needs and talents of each unique student.
We adopted two boys from Ukraine about four years ago. The younger one has disabilities. OFSD has been terrific to work with. They provided an ESL tutor for the older boy and prepared the younger one for Kindergarten through intensive (and I'm sure very expensive) programs. Both are mainstreamed and happy. The older one is in the gifted program. Parents and teachers are very involved with all school programs/activities. All personnel at the school know the families, and children are closely cared for. Each family gets personalized attention. Acedemic's, music, etc are the highest level. Spanish is taught from first grade on! It's the closest thing you'll find to the 'good old days' of neighborhood schools with excellent teachers who love their jobs and involved parents. By comparison, over the years, my five biological children attended three other St. Charles County school districts. None compare to Orchard Farm.
We moved here in the summer. This is our first year in this district. The school has welcomed all 3 of my kids. The special education program has worked wonderfully with me. The assistant principal is fantastic. I am very pleased!
