Monroe Elementary is an awesome school. They have high expectations and help each student achieve the expectations at their own rate. The curriculum is amazing. If a child is not working at grade level, then interventions are put in place to help that child in every way possible. The teachers and principal are extremely caring. I love the new standards based grading system, as it tells me exactly what my child is able to do and what he still needs to work on. I absolutely love that my son attends a school with such a caring and nurturing environment.

I love the school but I strongly dislike the"speed" curriculum. Everything is based on speed, speed math speed reading. My children have gotten straight A's their entire lives, my some reads at a middle school level, but because he does not read fast, he is failing? He has always had an enriched reading and spelling program, now he is spelling 1st grade words because he reads slow?! What about comprehension? who cares how fast you read if you don't know what you are reading? I am very unhappy with this.

Teachers and staff genuinely care about the students. School struggles with state testing, but students are well taught and thrive here. Parental involvement is low, PTA is almost non-existent. Families are always welcome at school though. Best elementary school in the district. Title I school. Several after school clubs and activities.

Monroe Elementary is great! The staff from Principal to janutoral, all care about the well being of the children who attend there. Let me also point out that the Teaching staff here are wonderful women and men, who have decicated their lives for our childrens sake. The office staff keeps things running smooth, and they make that look so easy! Like I said, Monroe Elementary Staff are very decicated, caring bunch of people who deserve medals made of gold!
