My daughter goes to Central and I think it is a great school! Her teachers have all been good and I really appreciate how well they keep in contact with me about her progress. I even get an email from her Science teacher letting me know how the class did on tests and quizzes before the school day has ended. The teachers volunteer their time before and after school to help go over material if the students are struggling. I have had some contact with her counselor too and he is always very helpful. I stopped by the school to bring my daughter something during the day and the principal happened to be in the entryway. He was very friendly and made me feel like he really cares about his school and all the students. I believe Francis Howell Central is an excellent school!
Both of my 'special' kids received an excellent education here... from the one who was in accelerated and honors classes to the other who needed extra help just to pass... this was a perfect school and excellent district that really met all their needs.
I am a graduate of this school and I don't believe it prepares you for college as the other high schools do. The academics are just O.K. Teachers don't take time to learn your name and don't help you if you are doing poorly in a class.
The most impressive thing about Francis Howell Central High School is the Theatre Department. The students in the program are extremely prepared for the future in regards to leadership, team building, and cooperation. The department puts College-Level performances on a high school stage. Truly wonderful students, on stage as well as behind stage.
Good kids, helpful staff and well educated teachers.
This is a Great School. The Administration and Teaching staff is concerned about the success of all students. Safety and discipline is well maintained.
Overall, FHC offers some of the best academic departments in the county. The science department especially stands out. Although the school prepares to move on to any college, the counselors have a little to offer in the way of assistance in finding and applying to more elite and out of state colleges. They are, however, very good at placing students at the three most attended colleges (SCC, Mizzou, and MSU). Clubs such as Drama, Band, and Student Council are very strong at FHC, and there are plenty of opportunities for everyone to get involved. The athletics department is strong as well, but teams often don't place as high as they should (being one of the largest schools in the state). Overall, a pretty decent school.
When i first walked through FHC as a sohpmore i remember thinking wow! The school was brand new and the teachers were wonderful. I feel very lucky to have created some of the traditions that future spartans will follow. The support the teachers gave and are continuing to give is remarkeble. I loved my time in high school and am proud to call myself a spartan alumn. class of 2000 graduate
I was a 2003 graduate from FHC and am proud to call myself a former spartan. The activities and clubs offered give every student an opportunity to express who they are or want to be. I found incredible faith and help in the counslors when it came time to hunt for colleges( I am a nursing student). My senior year was a great experience because I was able to duel enroll at St. Charles Community College and graduated FHC with 15 college credits. Every HS should offer this opportunity to their students. My sister is now a senior, and my brother a junior at FHC and are receiving the same great education and opportunities. -FHC Grad 2003-
I am a parent of a 16 year old son. He absolutely hates school. Got great grades throughout grade school and middle school. When I try to address issues with principals, counselors, they are so overwhelmed that during the conversations they actually forget the name of my son. I've tried on several occassions to work with the staff, I guess they are just too busy. Righ now I am looking for an alternative school. Mother in St. Peters.
