My son was transferred to Lake from Hyde in his "5th" grade year. This was do to a reshuffle of students because the school board closed numerous schools. My son was an "A B" student prior to Lake. His grades took a nose dive at Lake. We found the teacher he had really didn't care much as she had so many other students in her class. He also had a big problem with bullying at this school. The teachers and Principal really didn't do much other then talking to the students that were the bully's. That obviously intensified the issue as then our son became labeled as a snitch. We appealed the transfer for our son to go back to Hyde, thank goodness it was approved. Because of this loose of a year in continuity, our son has to work twice as hard to catch back up. Never mind the bad attitude he picked up (learned) from some of the other students. We also noticed that the parent involvement in this school is not as high as other schools. Perhaps the school needs to go back to the chalk board to see what they can do to change things and get more involvement from the parents. Not impressed with this school, its attitude or lack of interrelationship with the students and their parents.

My granddaughters attended Lake this year and I was very pleased with the school. My oldest granddaughter struggled at the school she was in last year, even though she had done very well in her preschool years and then in her K and 1st grades. She had always been a good student and had a lot of friends. But last year her grades were average and some lower, she had no friends and my daughter and her Dad repeatedly went to school about her being bullied. But this year at Lake she has been on the honor roll every quarter and she has lots of friends. She loves going to school here and has never been bullied once. They have a zero tolerance rule if she had but she was happy here from day1. The younger grabddaughter is a handful sometimes and has trouble sitting still and concentrating but her teacher has worked with her wonderfully. Her grades, behavior and attention span have all improved through this year. I've been impressed with the teachers and staff.

Absolutely horrible. I went to this school when I was a child and they focused primarily on reading. Now, it seems as though the teachers could care less. Daughter is failing reading and spelling and never brings home homework. Teacher fails to make sure things are getting sent home.
