De Smet Jesuit High School

My son is challenged and involved. He's developing as a leader and is able to participate in athletics and academic events. He is enrolled for college credit as a Sophomore in foreign language. His teachers know him, and he is being prepared for college. We are thankful he is part of this community and that the friendships he has made will last a lifetime. The school stretches across demographics and not everyone who attends this school has a huge income. I agree that boys there find their niche and thrive.

This school is the worst high school in the entire world, i would have rather went to a high school in Soviet Russia than here. The teachers do not care about the kids, nor do they care about their education. When i went there 90% off all papers given to us for homework you could find the answers to them with a simple Google search, meaning the teachers just took the papers off of Google. Do NOT waste your money, just go public, it will be better for the kid and will show him the real world.

I have two grandsons and will eventually have 3 grandsons graduating from De Smet. They love it and have excelled. They are graduates of St. Monica's. There is something for everyone. I am happy they have been exposed to the arts as well as sports and academics.

My son is currently a Sophmore at DeSmet & he is finally being challenged, not only with an educational program that does just that, challenges each student to do better, but to become MORE in every aspect of is life. I have NO idea what the preceeding post is about, (money). My son receives financial aid to attend DeSmet, has many friends and that has never been an issue. I feel for kids that do not feel like they fit in, but it seems like at De Smet, they all find that 'place' where they feel comfortable & thrive. It's a great enviroment for young men!

I am one of the parents that do not make a lot of money and have a tough time making the tuition, but felt that my son wanted and needed a great education. He chose DeSmet and I have no regrets whatsoever. He has made a lot of friends and has never been looked at differently because of my income. He has done very well with academics and in sports. He didn't make all the teams he tried out for but understood that he was not as good as the others who did. The sports teams he has made has coaches that push them to do their best in the sport and in school. The teachers write notes on every report card with reason for certain grades, words of ecouragement. I would never have sent him to any other school. His classmates from grade school have also done well at DeSmet.

I cuurently go to DeSmet and I saw the review that said his/her son was outcasted by how much the parents make. I would like to say that I have plent of friends that might not be as lucky and well off as they wish but they are still outstanding students, and outstanding friends. This school has effected everyone in their own different way it has made us all one community where everyone fits in, where everyone has a chance to succeed, and where everyone has friends. Not only does DeSmet offer the outstanding education, but also it offers everyone no matter how much they make or how smart they are, a place where you are only judged by the decisions you make and even when you make the wrong decision people are there to help and forgive you and make you a better person.

Our son is a freshman this year. He came from a public middle school where he was not challenged and in turn did not accel. He is a completely different student now. He is challenged daily and loves it.

This school was the worst decision I made from my son. The parents and students there looked differently upon my son because we did not have a lot of money. If I would have dont it over I would have sent him to a public school so his self esteem would not have been affected in such a poor manor.

Our son is a 2004 graduate of DeSmet. This summer I received a phone call from one of his teachers congratulating him on his AP score. Another teacher wrote a note to us telling us what a great job we had done as parents and what a gift our son was to his teaching. Does this happen at other high schools? Our son also was given the encouragement and support to start a barbershop quartet. DeSmet is open to new ideas. There is something for everyone at DeSmet.
