An absolutely phenomenal school where our daughter has really blossomed. The parish we live in no longer has a grade school, so we went searching for a school for Kindergarten. After a comprehensive search, we ended up selecting St. Gabriel. Two years in, and we could not be more glad of the decision. We were a bit apprehensive about the whole "where'd you go to high school?!" question, as neither of us is originally from St. Louis. Additionally, my husband is not Catholic, so we thought we might be on the outside at first. Nothing could be further from the truth; our entire family was welcomed with open arms from day one.
Academically, the educational environment is excellent. Our daughter loves the choral music and art programs. She takes computer, as well as after school programs for chess and astronomy. Thete are enrichment resources available, as well. She also attends Mass twice weekly, once with an upper classman "buddy," who helps show her the routine of the service. Her teachers are kind, smart, and have just that right "discipline meets learning" touch. The entire school is working on the virtue of kindness at the moment, as well. Finally, the school has been revitalized this year with the arrival of the new Principal, Kelly Shokmiller, and Assistant Principal, Lucy Gintz.
In summary, St. Gabriel is a vibrant school and parish, providing a challenging education and a stimulating environment for our child to meet her full potential.
