The parents are caddy and clicky, there are only a couple of good teachers the rest were only hired because they are good friends with the principal so they don't have to try to hard to do a good job of teaching. Some of the classrooms are over cramped with too many children.

In my experience, the overall leadership of the school and the teachers has been awesome. The families here are so welcoming, friendly and supportive. My children are doing exceptionally well in all their academics. Most importantly, through this school and church, my children have come to KNOW Christ as their personal Savior. If you are looking for a school with high academic expectations and achievements, caring and supportive teachers/staff that are truly invested in your child's educational upbringing, Abiding Savior is worth checking out!

Abiding Savior congratulates our 8th grade class on the results of the ACT Explore tests. With 25 points possible, our students came in with a mean composite score of 18.1 which puts us ahead of the national average of 15.5. Way to go!

My experience was very poor leadership and communication in this school from their school board, principal and some teachers. My three children attended the school for four years before moving to a public school. When entering the public school system all three children tested behind in math and reading. All three children are now showing improved scores. In my experience, the school board and principal did not follow the schools own handbook for policies and procedures.

The school is great. What I like most is the teachers. They are so dedicated to the kids both academically and spiritually. The kids are taught to live a Christian life. The school has smartboards in every room even early childhood now, and implementing spanish. The academic standards are incredible. The scores are routinely in top 10-20% nationally. Also offers well rounded opportunities for athletics and fine arts, including band. Parents are great too really support the school through volunteering and financial gifts. If you are looking for a church the school is affiliated with a wonderful church that reaches out to families.

Cannot say enough good things about this school! A very welcoming staff and community. Unbelievable in every aspect of what a school should be, and has to offer! Couldn't be more pleased!

We love ASLS...our child is in 5th grade and has been here since Kindergarten. The teachers and staff truly care about the children, academically and spiritually. Did I mention we have a professional chef on staff that cooks the lunches daily for the school?

I love ASLS - our son loves it, his teachers have been excellent and the parent/teacher/principal communication is fantastic. We wouldn't have our school in any other place and he will go there through 8th grade (currently in 1st grade). Money VERY well spent.

The academics are well rounded and challenging. Extracurricular activities in the fine arts such as music and drama are available as well as several sports programs. Most importantly is the atmosphere and dedication of the teachers. I love the way Christian principles are woven into many aspects of the entire day. My children are flourishing at this school.

If you are looking for a school that offers superior academics, great athletics, caring Christian teachers, and involved parents this is the school for you. Families come from all over South County, Jefferson County and St. Louis City. We are not an expensive school, we have families from all walks of life. What we share is a love of our Savior and the desire to raise our children in a Christian environment that exceeds state academic requirements. Come visit us and find out how little it costs to get the best for your child.

Washington Lutheran is now called Abiding Savior Lutheran. The atmosphere is small and friendly. I love that they still offer a half day kindergarten option. The teachers are truly amazing. My children learn about Jesus and are challenged academically.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
